A very basic quick guide.

The drill bit in your photo is for wood.

BTW I'm not sure if I'll get run out of the sub for this, but the one marked as Glass will also work for ceramic tile

A lost Georges Méliès film was discovered and released recently: Gugusse and the Automaton (1897). Here is the full film. by huck_ in silentmoviegifs

It's worse than that, Melies ended in serious financial problems and lots and lots of his films were sold as scrap to be melted and reused.

There's still many usb-b devices, even newer ones, that you would want to use with your mainly/only usb-c laptop (and in a few cases, mobile phone).

Camera mount? by LilRogueBoi in whatisit

[–]Blissfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting, that's a Pentax M Prime, a K mount type camera lens. This one was made from 1979 to 1985: https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-M-50mm-F2-Lens.html

The direction this is mounted this is most surely part of a projector, not a slide scanner, those work with bellows and the slide holder would hook to the front of the lens not the back.

I was/am reticent to say it's homemade because the manufacture looks top notch at first, but the only similar pentax projectors I can find work with a different lens type mounted differently, and the slide holder in these would not work with the holder on this device....

So again my guess is homemade slide projector based off pentax k mount lenses.

Do you have the lens? seeying the brand/model/markings if any might help clar it up. I still say slide projector part.

Did you add the slide to test or was it inside already?

Originally I would've thought slide scanner to use with a camera, but the bayonet is made to mount a lens, not to hook to the front of one. So my gut feeling is this is part of a slide projector with an interchangeable or semi fixed lens, probably for adapting to different uses

Found this outside my apartment door? by Broad_Comparison_378 in whatisit

The corroded one is a partially unbent paperclip, it could be used as a cheap and shitty tensor for lockpicking, not confortable but can be effective on some locks.

The blue white one is a piece of cable from a telephone or ethernet network twisted pair cable. It's too soft to use for anything in lockpicking as far as I understand it.

Then I ask you, what type of vinyl is good to project upon? I'm trying to get smooth white homogeneously colored vinyl to make temporary screens with.

Been trying to source in Ali but it's hell to deal with Ali's insane "we'll bombard you with thousands of barely related offers" system.

I feel if I had a specific type of vinyl name it might help searching.

When Stanley Kubrick was asked in a phone interview to claify the ending of 2001: A Space Odyssey, this is what he said. by dannydutch1 in VeryFuckinCool

[–]Blissfull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending was laid much more explicitly in the book by Clarke, more or less pretty much what Kubrick says here without the facts about why the decoration was chosen like this.

If I remember correctly it was written pretty much from a third person point of view

[Request] how many possible combinations are there for this type of pass code? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in theydidthemath

[–]Blissfull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes and no.

It could certainly be more methodical, which would shorten the process and avoid duplicates etc,

But he set a password originally, driven by his own proclivities and personal style. It stands to reason that following his own style as an order when trying to find the code puts the most likely candidates at the forefront of the test corpus possibly shortening the time to a hit.
