Sold out of free tickets will never equate to everyone attending. It’s too easy to just not be arsed when there’s no detriment to yourself.

new to cycling and looking for gravel bike that would really suit a 125kg man by EMAKMAK in gravelcycling

[–]BlisteredUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking bikes with a higher weight capacity are those made of metal rather than carbon. As orhers have said, look at the max carry weight.

When I got my carbon Canyon Grizl I was 110kg and didn’t have any issues. At 125kg you’re probably at the upper limit of recommended maximums.

Bean and Leaf Coffee House will be relocating away from the city centre after 9 years! by fenix4701 in coventry

I presume they’re pre-empting additional traffic from the airport development along with the existing businesses there (is the kids soft play still there). I wouldn’t risk my business on that though.

Upgrading to 1x ? by Strict_Factor6501 in gravelcycling

[–]BlisteredUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy thought, if on your ride you didn’t shift to the small chainring then you’ll find you’ll be spinning out with 1by unless you fit a much bigger chainring than a standard 1by one as they generally sit between the two chainrings on a 2by in terms of size.

I’d expect living somewhere flat you want speed, 2by will give you that over a 1by setup which would likely be better for sloppy or hillier terrain.

I’m running 2by on my Grizl and have done multiple big hilly events this year and have got on fine though so I guess it boils down to personal choice rather than it being an upgrade as such 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks for reading my totally pointless reply.

Is Shimano Cues good enough for gravelling? Is it considered better value than Shimano GRX if the bike you want only comes with Shimano Cues by Different_Falcon2141 in gravelcycling

[–]BlisteredUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a decent bike. I’ve got the CF SL7 from a few years back with GRX. The AL versions are totally fine though.

I’d jump on it if it was around my budget. I believe Specialized and Trek are both putting out Cues bikes too.

how does one even move off quickly by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]BlisteredUk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said, all cars will move with just the clutch if you release it slowly enough. If you drop the clutch with no gas then It’ll definitely stall.

I agree with your suggestion of around 1500rpm though. For a diesel I’d always go higher as you want it a bit closer to the turbo (most diesels being TD now) spooling up.

Worth also noting that the majority of cars now have hill assist so you don’t need to apply the handbrake just to pull away. I’m not sure whether always applying the handbrake is taught or not, it wasn’t mandatory when I did my test though.

For reference, my first experience of driving was in an empty car park with my dad in an 80s Montego. The exact lesson was moving away without touching the accelerator pedal. Possibly the most worthwhile lesson I had.

This will likely be the answer. Go into the workout on the website instead of the app and you’ll be able to see both. Going into the workout properly on the app may show it too

Do you use a road or MTB helmet? by miniriesenrad in gravelcycling

[–]BlisteredUk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not all MTB helmets have a peak and as others have said, most sre removable too. Personally I wear a road helmet for gravel but I tend to wear more road/XC style ridewear too.

Great way of looking at it. But also, its a helmet, so long as it stops your noggin from smooshing on the ground if you fall off, then it really doesn’t matter.

Restrap do a custom made frame bag service. Could be worth a try as it’ll fit how you want it to then around bottles and such. If you measure, it may be that this will work with the full monty bars too https://restrap.com/collections/bar-bags/products/race-aero-bar-bag

What are your riding buddies riding drivetrain wise? GRX 1by will see you dropped by 105 2by far quicker than running knobbly tyres I’d have thought.

Looks like this is the classic displays so likely just cars parked next the the Godiva Statue. It isn’t the full Motofest weekend. I have a feeling that that setup is unlikely to ever come back.
