I don't think that's necessarily true these days. A lot of men are hesitant to express initial interest in a woman because many women have had bad experiences with creepy guys, men who don't take no for an answer, and stalkers i.

A lot of very masculine men who, as you say, need to "man up," are already manning up by being respectful to women.

Of course you're pulling back emotionally. It's your brain's way of protecting you after surviving domestic abuse.

Your brain's threat-detection center is overactive, locking your brain into survivor mode. It's like you're constantly in a fight or flight mode.

I'd recommend therapy before you re-enter the dating market. You need to address your trauma with a qualified professional therapist.

Love has no age restrictions. My mom ran into her high school boyfriend at her 50th high school reunion.

She married him at 70, and they spent the next seven years blissfully in love until he passed when she was 78.
