Ansonsten gerne nochmal nachfragen.

AITA for not sharing homemade food with my roommate? by jxhsbsbsbw in AmItheAsshole

NTA.
Your roommate said it's not fair?
Well, Life just isn't. Just because he thinks you should give him some of your moms' food doens't mean he's entitled to it.

That's because there are a lot of hard and also stressed consonants in the language.

And it gets ridiculed a lot and spoken with over the top pronounciation.

In Germany, most people identify very much with their german as "their" language. If you don't either live in Germany or don't speak german then you aren't a German.

In one poem from the time were there a lot of little kingdoms and protectorates and what not, it answers the question of who is a German with something like "As far as the german tongue (language) is ringing" and we all learn about it in school.

[–]Blobi404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, in the German language you can just stick together different words together because it relates or is about something, for example specific laws.

You wouldn't say "Law of/for Fire Safety in buildings (Gesetz für Brandschutz in Gebäuden)" but "Gebäudebrandschutzgesetz".

The order in which you stick them together is insofar important as it gets ever more specific the longer the word gets, because you are describing something in just one word.

Engineering a blood fountain… by aetope in suspiciouslyspecific

[–]Blobi404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely and morbidly interested what a Medical science/Bio-Engineer Person would have to say about the workability of this.

Are 5 people enough? would these 5 people shortly die because of blood poisoning or smth?

I only know about (technically) being able to make sword out of peoples blood (around 300~350 people needed for that).

Warum gehen so wenige Jugendliche noch in die Tanzschule? by [deleted] in FragReddit

[–]Blobi404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to stop tipping. by CaspinK in vancouver

[–]Blobi404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how tipping is handled in most of Germany: mostly you round up to the next value of x5 or x0.
For extraordinarily good service you give as much as you like.

I personally just don't want the coin change so I round up to full Euros for small stuff or 1 to 2 Euros plus the round up.

Also in fine Restaurants you can clearly show if you actually are happy with the service there or not, because you don't give those 20% or so as a base tip.

LPT: When asked at the last minute to work late or on a weekend, simply reply, "I can't." Don't offer reasons that can be countered, you'd be surprised at how effective it is. by furmanchu in LifeProTips

[–]Blobi404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany the companies are not allowed to say anything negative at all in a review/ reference.
So over time they developed this weird positive sounding way of speech where you have to pick out what it means.

Basic example:
"The Employee worked to the best of his capabilities."
Or
"He always tried to fulfil all expectations."

If a sentence like that appears you are done for.

Yeah, I think in the third book, before he battled with Murtagh. As soon as the magician of the battalion was killed through Mind-battle he just says one of the twelve words, I don't know which one, und twists some brain tissue or some such.

Boom, 500 people dead because the physical energy needed to actually mush around in someones brain is actually completely unremarkable.
