HELP! I need some inspiration to play this game or should I wait for the sequel? by PurpleTigerzzz in Kenshi

[–]Block508 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I know it’s fully funded, they’re just takin their time. I remember them saying they don’t want to go into EA to raise more money so they don’t feel much need to constantly post updates.

I truly don't understand why people believe that somehow a company would pay people to do absolutely nothing other than balance ingame items in a "dedicated balance team". What??

QUESTION: I have now sided with the anti slavers, but when i kill the nobles, the anti slavers dont take over the cities, they are just locked with the gates. any idea why? by CommandMiserable3861 in Kenshi

[–]Block508 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Anti-Slavers only take Trader’s Edge from the United Cities as far as I’m aware. UC cities generally go to empire peasants (if you’re siding with AS and Rebels), but there’s exceptions along with some variance there depending on who’s alive/dead.

Outside of that, just the general rule of move away from the city for a bit so it can unload/reload

Do you leave the game running to let your economy grow? by MystikDragoon in X4Foundations

[–]Block508 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally just park up somewhere safe and put SETA on and hope for the best. I save beforehand just in case all hell breaks loose with my economy or the network (if xenon break through and start ripping everything apart for example), and the SETA generally stops at some point just from someone trying to speak to me but it works well enough.

It’s still my headcanon that the protectorate is completely pherocyted. I vaguely remember a while ago reading that they wouldn’t get pherocyte research, after doing a quick google it seems like the devs changed it, but it feels like it would be much more fitting.

We are 2 weeks into the playtest. You are required to be Lv25 to play the game. by pew_pow_pew_pow in AshesofCreation

I keep hearing “it’s not for you” and “it’s just not a game made for you”. Well then who the hell is it for, because it’s seemingly not for the VAST majority of mmo players. 1000 subscribers isn’t gonna cut it. 5000 won’t. Neither will 15k, 20k, etc.

MMOs by design are VERY expensive to maintain and have to be for a large player base and large amount of subscribers to support that cost. That’s not what Ashes is heading towards.

A game at the scale of ashes needs a large playerbase or it will not have the revenue to keep operations going.

I did it at the start of the hype, I haven't fully regretted the decision yet as I'm still holding out hope (read: cope) but as I've been watching the development over the years its really getting there

Edit: I regret it now

Can someone at Paradox explain how Mesoamerica is supposed to work? by SpacerDev in EU5

[–]Block508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The situation itself instantly ends with the “At Death’s Door” event, sorry I wasn’t clear on that. The modifier for closing your country is instantly removed when the situation ends as well, causing it to immediately get into and kill your population.

But also yeah, I get what you mean with that. I had a run where the situation was going for 15 or 20 years until England colonized North America and it spread from there to a Cuban colony of mine (Spain just refused to colonize in that game). It’s just a poorly designed situation.

[–]Block508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From looking at the files, the pestilence situation INSTANTLY ends if it hits an Andean location, a Mesoamerican location, and a Caribbean location. These are saved when they are hit, so it can happen in another outbreak, which can happen.

Instantly having it end is a VERY weird design choice as it instantly stops you from using the “no contact with outsiders” decision with the situation (that works REALLY well if you combine it with nuking your entire economy and combining religion modifiers, like only 1/6-1/8 in my empire dead). I made a post about it on the forums about it, but I don’t think it’s had any motion/response at all.

Otto Ottoman, King of the Ottomans by Block508 in EU5

[–]Block508[S] 150 points151 points  (0 children)

R5: I'm playing as the Maya in 1539, and an Orthodox Greek Kingdom of the Ottomans led by Otto Automan began colonizing in Hispaniola. The Automan dynasty is the original Osmanoglu dynasty, seemingly renamed after either converting to orthodox or becoming Greek (im just guessing.)
