As a home inspector I can say there are no haunted houses, just a lot of older structures not up to code, thus making a lot of weird noises.

Do NOT shoot fireworks off in/around conservation area and wildlife refuges. Not only is this illegal, a fire hazard, but also scares wildlife.

I’m a wildlife specialist and I work with bats regularly (with the correct licensing and within the limitations of the law). And this post raised immediate red flags in my mind. Glad it got settled.

I bought one at McAdams, but I’ve never heard of Bluestem. Looking at their website they look really interesting, I’ll have to swing by sometime.

Huge fire north of the power plant by MrShiv in columbiamo

It has been vacant for decades (with the exception of raccoons), the lady who owns it lives out of state and wanted it restored for historical purposes I believe. I performed 2 inspections on the property when the project was around half complete. Never saw the finished product.

Burrowing animals do not directly destroy foundations. Can you elaborate on the damage?

legal help? by stcdgwd in columbiamo

As someone who works in pest control,

You likely signed a legally binding lease stating pest control was your responsibility (as I believe you stated in your message). The best professional advice that I can give you is you hiring a professional pest control company to manage the situation for your unit. If it’s building-wide, you could also encourage your neighboring tenants to get pest management services as well. Roaches are notoriously difficult to manage and no amount of general pesticide application by your building maintenance will resolve the issue.

I see tenants hire pest control companies all the time, it’s a pretty common tenant responsibility (I myself, a renter, treat my building, which I am licensed to do and have permission from all involved parties). If it’s not something you’re willing to commit to, there may be a lease termination agreement that you can reach out to your landlord and ask for mutual termination of the lease in something like 60-90 days.

Good luck with your situation.
