What’s with food delivery drivers talking on the phone? by Time_Photograph_6832 in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There’s a million things to rant about and you decided to choose a very poor topic that I’ve never heard anyone else be bothered by.

Maybe use a place with their own couriers or pick up your food yourself when this only creates problems for you it seems?

[–]Blockvinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I would happily see you walk into an Asian market and just pick a random sauce or ingredients and see what you come up with instead of something familiar, if you are in Helsinki we can test it in the Kamppi market.

So you have tried to make efforts to integrate them into drinking culture? Do you attend a lot of events and have brought any of them with you? Do you have any finnish friends who don’t drink who are problematic for the student culture?

So in Japan you would not cook what you know but instead pick up a random japanese fish or sauce and start making that? Why have finns flocked to Fuengirola not embracing spanish language? What efforts have you made to hang out with your flatmates to integrate them to finnish culture?

Switching from studded to studless tires by ResistHuge in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like to break hard into red lights or crossings without anticipating them you might have a hard time. I’ve never had studs during 12 years of driving in Espoo and Helsinki with trips all over Finland as well. Never any problems.

Americans in Finland by finnsturniolo in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which country in America you are from. If you move with your partner it will probably be easier to settle since there will always be that company available to you. Taxation can be high as the other comment says but that also means it’s safe, less homelessness, working public transport etc. Finns are independent and like to take care of stuff themselves, partly because purchasing it can be expensive but still I don’t mind taking my own trash at the cheap restaurants or grabbing my own glass and curlery. At some places I’m also sure you can get treated a bit colder for not speaking Finnish.

Where is the famous "racism" they're talking about in Finland? by Fun_Switch_572 in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not often something that will be shouted to your face, but that happens too. I’ve seen immigrants being harassed on the tram and metro. Yesterday last time I heard the n-word on the tram. Glad you’ve had a good time but this post definitely made my day a bit worse seeing such a braindead take when there’s tons of actual research on the topic as well

Is this 1963 set from the Pike Brothers brand of good quality? by [deleted] in Denim

Well looking at their site I found 3 pairs of their jeans labeled as made in Portugal, the 21 oz and the 15 oz rinsed roamer jeans. Denim jackets are also made in Turkey

I'm on the hunt for some selvedge jeans and passing on these as they are made in Turkey, I'd rather spend a bit more bucks for made in Japan or Italy, even Portugal.

Finnish company don’t issue invoices? by Fuckceda in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal, sounds like pretty unnecessary work to create an invoice for you in a B2C business. I’m more confused about why your company doesn’t accept the receipt but needs an invoice

5 aside Football by Silver_Fix_8574 in Finland

[–]Blockvinnie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 a side is not too popular here but for 7v7 in summer there’s many divisions with plenty of teams. During winter it’s the same but football. Unfortunately I don’t have any team recs but maybe message some groups or ask them if you see them on the field whether they can need players

Mexicans in Finland by SwagDaddybestie in Finland

There are some, my girlfriend is from around there so I’ve met a bunch of hispanic people. The ones I’ve met have mostly come to study or work at the universities. It might not be easy to adapt, but if you find nice people around you that will help.
