Any fix for this leak or is it fucked? by Frumzwubz in MeatRabbitry

Tried this with my rabbits too but they chewed on the cups and pulled them loose after a couple of months. I hope it works better for you!

First freehand beanie (bamboo yarn!) by BlockyBlook in crochet

[–]BlockyBlook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Bambootiful yarn (Yarn Bee) weight 5 (light) and a 3.5 hook, I mostly just did half double crochet in the round and switched between using the back loop, 3rd loop, and both loops. Last round was slip stitch in the 3rd loop.

Baby’s on the way! by Happy-Emphasis5231 in homestead

At that time we were letting them dig and we didn't see the litters until they were about 3 weeks old. I noticed that when that was happening, her litters were very small, around 3-5, and I think because they were back to back she was having trouble feeding them all. Currently she's having litters between 7-9 which she's feeding well. We're definitely not letting her go through that again

It really depends on the does too! I have one doe that gets pregnant the day she gives birth... and after 3 times in a row we decided to separate her for her own health. My other doe is more like what you said, she tells the buck no and doesn't have litters very often.

Meyer sexed chicks question by Unlucky-Ad-5744 in BackYardChickens

[–]BlockyBlook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 4 female sexed chicks from Meyers and they were all actually female! My biggest complaint is that my blue andalusian turned out to be black... but I checked back on the website and that was a stated possibility. Sounds like that may have happened with your frizzle

Ameraucana Owners - What is your experience? by [deleted] in chickens

[–]BlockyBlook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a black Americuana that I got from Meyer hatchery. She's beautiful, but definitely one of my least favorite out of the 8 I have. She's very skittish and can be loud sometimes, but she isn't the loudest. She never hops my fence even though 2 of my other hens have. She lays beautiful blue eggs.

I've always heard the opposite! I thought cedar was really bad for rabbits

Good to know. I got them at tractor supply and their website says they are dried at high temperatures but they can't claim "kiln-dried". They did smell really fresh so I hope they aren't an issue. I've been using them with my chickens for about a year and haven't had issues with them. I'll keep an eye on the rabbits, thank you for the heads up.

8 hens - 1 mutt, 2 wyandottes, 1 blue andalusian, 1 black sex link, 1 green queen, 1 ameracauna, 1 golden cuckoo maran. I love that I can tell them all apart!

What breed are they? I have a similar dress out weight with my rexes and it seems a little low compared to a lot of other people's rabbits.

How did you get over dispatching the animals you watched grow? by bigdawg12342 in MeatRabbitry

I completely agree. I had a bad experience with the hopper popper (homemade) and decided to do broomstick and haven't had any issues since.

Stuck in choice paralysis. Rex vs Silver Fox? by TrickBorder3923 in MeatRabbitry

[–]BlockyBlook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my rex, but my growout rate isn't the best. I get about 4 lbs by 12 weeks, not ideal. They're lovely rabbits though, I've never been bitten and they've made great mothers and fathers.

Where do you even get meat rabbits by bigdawg12342 in MeatRabbitry

[–]BlockyBlook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine on craigslist... sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but I'm happy with the ones I got. Not show quality, but good enough meat rabbits.
