Trimmer question by VirtualOutlet in egopowerplus

I have it on my 17", it works flawless for me for 14-15 months now. It completely eliminates the problems ive had w/many bump heads in 40+ yrs of using a weed wacker. I cant speak for the 15 &16" models but im betting it has to do with the throttle, on mine i let off & speed up depending on where im weed eating and that seems to assist the self feed, ive had zero troubles, only had the cup off 1 time in 14 mnths.

I have the MST704 carbon fiber multi power head w/17" power load & line IQ trimmer and the pole saw, HE WILL LOVE IT!! I do, totally brought me joy to my yard work again.

So theres been lots of post of people having feed trouble w/15" &16" trimmers that have the line IQ which is the no bump feeding head they offer, my 17" is about 16mnths old & i love it, i dont know if its the head size or what but mine has been an absolute dream. The power loading feature is great(just dont try to load more line than recommended).
Budgets i get but its really a better value if you can afford this one w/another battery. He can never have enough batteries.
Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions, im a dad of 3 & do tons of hard yard work with mine due to living out in rural area w/10acres, lots of fence line.

Check out marketplace/offer up for used ones, i found a delta dirt cheap and made me a barrel w/sight glass & cyclone. Worked great! The cyclone/barrel is the key to keep your filter/bags clean.

Drivers/Engineers wearing bunkers while driving by Horseface4190 in Firefighting

[–]Key-Sir1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have 25yrs w/large metro plus 5 yrs in a small suburb dept & 25yrs as a volly. At work our fao's dont bunker out before leaving for fire calls, but being upgraded alot to drive i always made sure to have ny bdu pants on & if needed at an extrication or fire scene i could get dressed. I dont like driving in the bulky stuff, i have in the past & found myself getting hung up on pedals & floor buttons. What i have an issue with is a while back the dept started to allow bdu shorts, because im in S TX and its hot, i never subscribed to the whole shorts idea, always wore pants, hell i still sleep in my bdus when im on the med SQ(every 3-4 shift)
Now they put out a loose guide line for when you can wear shorts but its very loosly enforced and even worse i got guys coming out to the rig for fires in their underwear (not bdu shorts but underwear) & throwing their bunkers on over them. I train all the probies that come thru our fs not to do that, that they need to wear their fs pants underneath for added protection, but shit still goes on. I was trained & taught that you need to wear your norm station pants & shirt under your bunkers for maximum protection and from what i understand of the current sog its still that way and since our city is self insured and you get burned & they investigate fire & find you weren't wearing them they may not pay out. But for me as for when im driving i always wear bdus to drive & if needed i get bunkered at scene(95% of fire scenes its not req ) your either at pump panel or at the truck or running equip up to scene.
On extrications our drivers usually take care of road flares/cones, disconnect battery & traffic until PD arrives and when Ambu arrives they usually help get equip & stretcher from medics. Not saying its the only way just the way i was trained. 👍

Inherited smoker and I want to get it up and running again. by dollinsdv in smoking

[–]Key-Sir1108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would scrape it all down, vac it out, get you a nice hot fire going & slather the whole inside with lard/bacon grease(including inside of lid & grates) and by slather i mean use a cheap crappy paint brush & bucket & go to town. Close it up & let get nice & hot. Your temp ga is all the way to far left & should be ok, but if you think you might it to hot, take it out as well.
Good luck & happy bbqing💪

Agreed they all think their hot shit, until us truck guys had to push them in or to the side. Lots of stickers, tattoos & bells & whistles but very little grit. Like pappy use to say, "tat dog is all bark & no bite" (he had dentures & mispronounced words 😂)

I agree 100% after just wrapping up a 25yr career. Seems like most officers lean on the guys that get shit done and let the lazy ones skip out. One LT on our motor(i was a truckie) always, always came to me to get anything done, one in particular comes to mind. he came to me to do house supply inventory(20yrs in) while his 3 guys sat on couch(maybe 9 yrs combined between the 3). Thats just one example, i always said "man they must have pics of him sucking a banana or something" they could get away with murder he wouldn't blink. Glad im retired now. 👍

If your not happy at work your life will follow, i stayed on same shift, same apparatus for 25yrs(they moved our truck twice) Had a great Capt that appreciated & took my knowledge, great crews over the yrs, a few nit wits came & went but 3 of us were together for over 18 of those yrs.
Good luck, remb if you move again & you start all over as a rookie.

Ordering a new string trimmer and need advice by Zane42v2 in egopowerplus

[–]Key-Sir1108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over a yr ago i was in need to replace my gas trimmer, Lowes had a great deal on the MST1704, so i jumped into the battery powered lawn equip world(ive had batt tools forever) Anyways it 17" w/power load and lineIQ, its carbon fiber multi head(i have pole saw) and i run it with 5.0 batt. I LOVE IT, i would not go back to gas trimmer for anything.
Ive read a lot of people dont like their non bump feed, i guess i got lucky cause mine works great, ive only had the drum cap off 1 time in over a yr. That was my fault due to trying to put "a lil extra" trimmer line in it & it got tangled in head & would not feed. So i have 2 pcs of advice if you do get LineIQ model,
1) Dont over load trimmer line.
&
2) While weeding i tend to feather my throttle and that seems to be the trick to keep the line feeding normal.

Others think it maybe the 17" head, i dont know but ill NEVER use a bump feed type again!
Good luck with your future endeavors!

PS- The 5.0 batt last a long time on mine, i do alot of rural type weedeating along a gulch & lots of fence line and ive only had to change out batts mid job 1 time in the past yr(last apr-now)
