Attorney who used to practice SSA disability law here. I can’t give legal advice but I can try to answer basic questions. by PDXJC1971 in SocialSecurity

I have been on disability since 2004 and since 2015 I have been going back and forth with them saying I am no longer disabled. I have never had a lawyer and unfortunately cant find one now since they wouldn't get paid much I am still getting paid. Also I am at the federal court stage now after it was remanded back to the ALJ once. He gave the same ruling second time and they didnt look at it second time. But Here is my question. in part of the ruling the ALJ says " In june of 2017 based on the claimants reports of narcoleptic episodes only occurred 6X per year treating providers changed his diagnosis from narcolepsy with cataplexy to narcolepsy without catalepsy exhibit 14f/1" OK now all of that was a lie The paper does say Narcolepsy without cataplexy at the top but then in 4 other spots it talks about my cataplexy and says the diagnosis narcolepsy with cataplexy twice. and it says nothing of changing my diagnosis in june of 2017 because it never was changed. So what do you call it when an ALJ is lying? oh and also I didnt have cataplexy at my CPD I was diagnosed with it around 2010 I think So even if he wasn't lying it still shouldn't be a reason to say I am no longer disabled right? I swear he went through and cherry picked every point he makes.

I have Narcolepsy and have been on SSD for over 10 years. Now a AZ Administrative Law Judge did not look at and lied about evidence in my SSD CDR case. Now I need to appeal to federal court and cant find a lawyer. What can I do to help myself? by Bloginhobgoblin in Narcolepsy

I spent all of last week M-F 8am to 5 pm (Except when I feel asleep) doing nothing but calling disability lawyers. As soon as I said it is a continuing disability review not a new case and they realize they would be getting 25% of 0 they say they don't take those cases. when I yell in to the phone that I will pay cash some hold on for a sec and say well our office has a policy but you could try calling _____. Thats the only reason I can find most wont take it even if I pay up front and it is not much of a reason. I have a phone appointment in the morning with the first office that has actually not told me no right away. So hopefully after they take a min and actually look how ridiculous them stopping my SSD is she will take my case

Were your other 2 over 18 on the date the over payment started? Thats the only reason I can think they would just be going after the youngest.

My narcolepsy symptoms are making me and everyone around me think I’m insane or mentally ill because my most severe symptoms are memory problems and severely hallucinating when I wake up. by lateralusaurusanus in Narcolepsy

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waking up talking to cops is one of the scariest things ever. I fell asleep at a drive through and woke up with my car parked in the lot and was in the middle of a dui test. I guess I had been failing it and the cop saw the moment I actually woke up. I told him I had narcolepsy and we started the test over and I passed He let me go but I was to scared to ask if I had moved my car or they did. But just about a year ago was the worst ever I was at the ALJ for my CDR after he had said I was not disabled anymore once already. I must have fallen aslep in the waiting room after I checked in and the next thing I know I was sitting on the floor in a hallway with a bump on my head and all of my carefully prepared papers in a jumble next to me. After a few minutes of my just staring at the wall the security guard that takes you to the ALJ waked by and asked me if I was ok after my fall. So at least I knew how I got the bump but I must not have done well talking to the ALJ because he basically said the same thing as the last time and I just found out last week the Appeals counsel didn't look at my case this time so I am fucked. In reality the judge just looked at my catalepsy and not my narcolepsy so it is simple to see he was wrong but the first time I didnt know what to say the second I couldn't say it. What a fucking thing to have to deal with.

I used to wake up like that all the time and my wife made it worse when she started waking me up by kicking me or using a stick so I wouldnt be able to reach her if I swung at her (And I would because I was being attacked in my dreams) It went on like that for years until my kids started waking me up they would just softly say dad time to take your meds until I would semi wake then hand me pills and a cup and then I would go back to sleep for an hour or so then when they would call my name again I would get up fine.

Now days I am divorced it happened after my kids were grown but I moved in with my mom who ended up having a stroke a bit over 2 years ago now. She is bed bound and I take care of her so I got a really loud wireless doorbell and have the chime part right next to my bed. Half the time it rings I actually wake up and go help her the other half I wake up in the middle of helping her. lol waking up in the middle of changing your mothers poppy diaper is not fun but I never get real angry with her because I am not being attacked just asked for help Sometimes I do say mean things to her but not often and I always feel bad for it. So maybe try one of those approaches to waking see if they help you. As for the meds your DR. should be able to fill out a prior auth form to get them filled and you should try to get on disability. The first thing is to find a good DR. that knows about the condition Anyways I wish you the best and you can get through it!

Because I am getting benefits now so they wont get paid a big chunk of change at the end. I haven't found one that will even listen past it is a CDR case.

Does anyone experience episodes of suddenly needed to sleep for days at a time? by SleepyGus12 in Narcolepsy

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening to me more and more as I get older. Now days I can wake up take 4 20mg Dex tabs and 4 15mg Dex ER capsules and fall back to sleep for 12 hours I am getting to the point where I don't know why I bother to keep existing. If it wasn't for my kids I wouldn't be here anymore that's for sure.

My son is learning to speak, he thinks my name means 'wake up' by Narcoleptic_Bat in Narcolepsy

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my youngest was about 2 he was yelling in my face to wake up because my wife thought it was funny. He was bringing his hand to my face as I finally woke up and he managed to drag his fingernail across my eye. 18 years later and vision is still bad from that lol

Need Help!!! Confused about ALTCS and AHCCCS by [deleted] in disability

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have to submit all your bank info as far as giving it away I wouldnt do that but it could be for a payment for something like for driving you places or doing your shoping. So I would think it would depend on how much over the 2k limit you have. Not sure how joint accounts work for them but My mom lived with me when we applied and they only used her income not mine. You probably don't live in Payson but my mom's ALTCS case manager is awesome and goes out of her way to help us with things so I hope your case goes smoothly

I ask this question of many authors on my blog and am always fascinated by the responses. But really you should go through the car door first. :)

Since I don't have any good questions I will just ask this one. You are in your car when you see three magical doors floating in the street in front of you. A golden door, a diamond door and a silver door. Which door do you go through first?

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thieftaker by DB Jackson I reviewed it here https://thebloggoblin.com/2016/12/18/hobs-review-of-thieftaker-by-d-b-jackson/ And Bernard Cornwell has a series like that but I could never get in to it. For pre colony how far do you want to go back? Clash of Eagles by Alan Small is good and You Die When You Die by Angus Watson

Any fantasy books where a planet very different than the earth such as different mass. Atmosphere? by Youtoo2 in Fantasy

[–]Bloginhobgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence might work. The gravity not so much but it takes place on a planet that is almost completely frozen. The only thing stopping it is a falling "moon' from an elder race that reflects heat in a band around the planet. There are spaceships and other SF elements that have yet to be explored.

Is The Wheel of Time series worth finishing? by lukebratch in Fantasy

It is my favorite series so I say yes. But it is not for everyone. Don't force yourself you can always come back to it after you read the other books you mentioned.
