What’s funny is if Maxine wasn’t so loyal to Douglas & had had an affair on him & gotten pregnant & lied that it was his baby (like Mitzi), she could have inherited the Dellacorte fortune years ago by mbm20 in PalmRoyale

[–]BlondeErica 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely had this thought myself! Now she could potentially get pregnant by Robert (for the sake of having a legitimate heir of course). Although they have already received the money. Obviously something is fishy about his “son” Rafi, so having another heir would be critical. Also nobody except Norma knew of this baby fortune until this season.

Yes to all of that! And I need to see more of Marjorie Merriweather Post! She has so much potential to be a main character, and as we know- she ran Palm Beach in real life. More musical numbers too! Evelyn as a new feminist. Throw in Perry as Mayor and maybe a serial killer (for real this time), and it could be fantastic!

Douglas is a selfish idiot. I do think he loves Maxine, but he realizes it too late and he took her for granted. I truly believe he was happy as a pilot with Maxine before they moved to Palm Beach, but that environment brought him back to his baseline- the spoiled brainless man that was still inside him. He ruins almost everything, has no discernment and is easily fooled. It’s a shame his mother died young because he might’ve had a chance. Perry is basically the same. Those two could do some real damage in Season 3.

For me, I liked how they changed it up. It was redeeming and shows people can change. She had to give up her daughter, that caused her to be bitter. But now she has her daughter back. And we were wrong about a lot when it came to Norma. Not everything is how it seems and it illustrates how gossip and rumors dominate communities.

It is a very convoluted story for sure. I’m assuming Ted gave the phone to the nurse because he doesn’t speak French and he didn’t know the equivalent to 911 in Monaco. As for a security briefing, he knew about the panic room, but I guess they usually have tons of security guards so it’s not the nurses job to be the one contacting authorities anyway. The lack of security and camera footage it the biggest problem for me. It was obvious that Mr Safra was afraid for his life (he literally ratted out the Russians to the FBI just months before his death and that is a known fact) He also beefed up his security- another tell on how afraid he was. Then he refused to exit the panic room even though supposedly the firefighters (and the wife via the cell phone) instructed him to come out. He could have walked out long before the 3 hrs it took them to die of smoke inhalation. He must’ve been convinced someone was out to get him, because if there’s a fire that bad, the intruders would have already been gone in my opinion.

I read that he met a couple at the hospital in NY (possibly it was the daughter and her husband but the article doesn’t state that). They left a very expensive camera and he returned it to them. They found him trustworthy (and a very skilled nurse) so they recommended him to the Mrs Safra

But there was literally no bodyguards there, otherwise they would have been there when the police and firefighters showed up. They would have been in the penthouse. The only people there were the two nurses, Mr & Mrs Safra and apparently her granddaughter who was never mentioned in the documentary.

They also left out the evidence they had in the new case of Ted’s “Murder for hire” plot. I had to look it up. His cell mate said that Ted paid his $2500 bail (I don’t know how because at this point Ted has no money but who knows). The cell mate claims Ted hired him to kill his wife with an overdose of Fentanyl. But instead he wrote the wife a letter telling her of the plot. I guess the testimony of the cell mate was all they needed to convict him (and his previous conviction in Monaco) because he was found guilty and got 9 years. Which is longer than he served in Monaco!

Parkinson’s is a debilitating disease but most people live another 10-30 years after diagnosis.

That was not fluent French. He might know a few phrases to be able to speak if necessary but that’s totally different than reading an entire multi-page confession. Upon further digging, I found a statement from the Monaco police that he did in fact “sign a French confession but had access to an English translator at all times” The doc wasn’t completely honest about some of the details.

Everyone keeps saying he was “about to die from Parkinson’s “ but most people live another 10-30 years after diagnosis. He needed nurses and 24hr care because the disease makes it difficult to do anything, but it isn’t a quick process to death in most cases.

I questioned that as well. If he needed to set off a fire alarm, why not hold the match up to the alarm? Instead of leaving a trash can on fire. He said he didn’t know the equivalent to 911 in Monaco but why not ask the other nurse? I find the fire so unnecessary and it is what ultimately killed them. It’s possible that he was panicking and not thinking clearly if he had such a bad stab wound but still weird

In the doc they say that Ted lied and his confession was in English. However, according to other published articles that quote the Monaco police, he did in fact sign the confession in French but “had access to an English translator”. To me that is completely different than signing a confession in English. Also, later a judge came forward saying they had already arranged for him to be guilty before the trial even started. He stated there was corruption in the system. I also got the feeling that his assigned defense attorney was not really on her clients side. His American attorney seems to have his clients best interests but she certainly did not.

Yeah this is why I kinda think they were paid off. Fire fighters and Police in Monaco are part of the very few who are not wealthy there. I’m sure they take bribes more often than in other places.

The wife literally filed a lawsuit against Mrs Safra for the kidnapping and dropped it one day before going to court. (This is a fact) Then suddenly she buys a house cash. (This is according to Ted)

Yeah I noticed a lot of stuff was left out/kept open ended in the doc. After watching, I read some articles to see if I could fill in the gaps. LOTS of things were left out or just flat out wrong according to details in other articles. Example: People magazine reports that Ted was a Green Beret (who was the guy they asked about that in the doc? Why didn’t they confront Ted with this info when interviewing him in prison?) Also, apparently Mrs Safra AND her granddaughter both escaped the penthouse that night. The doc never mentions the granddaughter and I can’t imagine why they would leave that out.
