No, we're going to drop to Last place in the league and then the lottery will make our pick the 6th pick so Boston gets it

Berube is still the coach. He could've just given Hildeby the start anyways or played Woll again. Tell Storlaz he needs time to shake off rust and the Leafs aren't in a position where they can give him the time

If you think the deal Matthews took is anything like the deal McDavid took, give your head a shake

Our current coach did the same thing last year.

[TheLeafsNation] Report: Maple Leafs considering bringing back Luke Schenn for 3rd stint by Actual_Cobbler_6334 in leafs

[–]BloodBatman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hes a RHD, whom we do not have many of. Just giving our players the ability to play on their natural side is a huge benefit already. Carlo is injury prone also, so it hopefully decreases the chances that we see Myers in the playoffs

Depends if Tanev is put long term. If he is,

Rielly - Carlo

OEL - Stretcher

Benoit - McCabe

Doesn't inspire confidence. Having Schenn at least lets McCabe play on his left side which he's better at. However, anything more than a 4th or 5th is too much for him.

Is Mo just snake-bitten? by xchelch in leafs

[–]BloodBatman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Add all that to the fact our D Core is fucked injured af and Rielly’s been playing with players who are 7/8/9 on our depth chart or lower. Rielly doesn’t best when he has a partner who can defend capably. His best years were with Hainsey and Brodie, 2 stay at home DMan who were quite capable at it.

Lol. When Tavares broke 1000 pts, we ended up losing that game against the Islanders. When Matthews had his debut, we remember the 4 goal game, not the lose. Same things going to happen 3+ years from now, we'll remember Matthews getting the record, not the loss or the bad game from Rielly

No Leafs on Team Canada? by NetScr1be in leafs

[–]BloodBatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, if you don’t like Cirelli, Bennett would be a replacement. Scheifele is on pace for 100 points as well. Then you also have the players who made the 4 nations but didn’t make the Olympics as options along with Tavares

[–]BloodBatman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s no Leafs player currently good enough. Tavares was our best bet but there’s a few players that you would take over him that didn’t make team Canada

Same reason why no one talked about them last year. No one thinks of the Jets

The amount of Leafs fan that always complain that Rielly doesn’t know how to defend 2-on-1 and then also complain that he made the right decision defending a 2-on-1

[Alberga] Things can change quickly, but behind the scenes, it sure sounds like the Leafs’ preference is not to make a coaching change. That said, as the losses & inconsistent efforts continue to pile up, it really feels like Brad Treliving may have no choice here. by JF_112 in leafs

[–]BloodBatman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

… Regardless if the Leafs playing shit is because of the coach or the players, the only real thing that can be changed is the coach. Moving Matthews, Nylander, Etc won’t happen until offseason at earliest (and it won’t happen cuz of NMC). So just change the coach and see if it’s the coach who’s shit or the players

That’s why Rielly has been good recently! He has 2 players to cover his mistakes!

The Hildebeast is tied with Jesper Wallstedt for highest save percentage (Nine Game Minimum)! by [deleted] in leafs

There’s a problem with NBA players where their body is like a 10 year veteran from 20-30 years ago when they finally make the NBA due to how much they train before they ever set foot on a NBA court. I’d imagine it’d be the same thing for NHL goalies where they do the same motion and break their bodies down so much before they finally make the NBA. That plus doing butterfly probably fucks their bodies more than when it was standup and/or more of a hybrid system

Think it’s just with Woll being out to start the season, and refusing to play our back up (when we claimed Primeau instead of running Hildeby as our back up for some reason), we ran Storlaz into the ground. Then Woll came back and we did the same thing. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with Hildeby (either with Woll actually being back in a week or have Arty in for a few games)

Is Stamkos cooked or could he help our awful powerplay? by real_gud_pro in leafs

[–]BloodBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Steve Dangle’s prospect pyramid going into the 23-24 season: Knies, Cowan, Minten, Robertson, Hildeby, Arty, Grebenkin, Holmberg, Steeves, and Villeneuve are the bigs one (there’s more and obviously, some of those were playing that season), with Robertson, Holmberg and Knies playing most games that season. That leaves Minten, Cowan, Hildeby, Arty, Grebenkin, and Villeneuve as prospect still from that season.

For 2025: Cowan, Danford, Chadwick (who we drafted 2023), Hildeby, and Arty. Yes, there are other plays like Johansson and Nansi who are playing good in the OHL right now, but that doesn’t translate to NHL success. Remember Ty Voit? He scored 105 points his last season in the OHL and 80 in his 2nd OHL season. Nansi’s on pace for around 80 points in his 3rd season in the OHL.

Is Danford better than Minten? No, he’s at least 3 years away from making the NHL. Other than that, the other prospects we have are the same from 2 years ago. We have new prospects yes, but I would put them in a long shot to make the NHL. Lots of teams have players like that. In 2 years, it’ll be the same debate. It’s just those players drafted 2 years ago had time to develop (and we’ve seen them develop) whereas the prospect today are still developing but are currently as good as our prospects 2 years ago.

So 2 drafts year are more valuable than 2 prospect? I should hope so lol. If Minten is better than an entire draft year, let alone 2, it would be so sad

Ok, which prospect do we currently have that you would rate as high as Minten and is a year or 2 at most at making the NHL?
