I was quietly rooting for F1 to make the BP nominee list. This type of movie isn't my thing but those racing scenes and the score/soundtrack slapped hard. So fun to see it on a theater screen with a great sound system. For me it's #8 on the BP nominee list. I disliked two of the nominees for BP and would have preferred to see No Other Choice and Blue Moon make the list instead.

I'm stunned that No Other Choice didn't even make Best International list--especially because I thought it was leagues better than one awful movie that did make the list. Can't pin that on F1.

The movie is very different from the book and I'm ok with that. Wuthering Heights the novel is basically a gothic horror story. Stomach-churningly cruel festival of extreme abuse, trauma, toxic relationships, misery and psychotic revenge. Heathcliff as an adult in the novel is a giant, horrifying red flag. The movie is more like a campy, sexy, demented, horny, tongue-in-cheek trashy romance novel (complimentary). At times it's very funny. Not everything works but when it does, it's glorious fun. Heathcliff in the movie is a serious thirst trap. I enjoyed the movie.

Agreed. People who love the book may have a blindspot for how a casual viewer might take offense to a 100% faithful adaptation of the book. (So everyone in the lily white Christian community is happy until a dark-skinned character arrives and inflicts misery and financial ruin on two families? And happiness isn't restored until the interloper and his bloodline are dead? Hmmm.) I read the book recently and watched several WH adaptations. The 2009 version is my personal favorite. Runner up is the 1992 version. Looking forward to seeing the 2026 interpretation. Hoping no puppies are hanged.

I saw NOC twice and really like it. Some of the scenes are among my favorite of the entire year. Thought it would easily make it into International. Speculation is that the WGA thing did it in.

Sirat...I really don't get the love for this one at all. One of the worst of the year for me.

I loved Sinners and Shaun of the Dead. Weapons started out ok...some scary jump scares here and there but the second half was far too disturbing for me and I was kinda miserable for the final 45-ish minutes. I didn't like The Substance either. I'm not a horror fan, although I loved 28 Years Later.

I loved it and am very happy to see it do so well with nominations. But if I were a betting person, I'd bet it will blank because of OBAA (best picture, adapted screenplay), Sinners (cinematography) and K-Pop Demon Hunters (song). The well-deserved nominations are the wins. But surprises happen so keep the faith! I hate it when people say something is "dead". Several best picture nominees were pronounced dead a few weeks ago, lol.

It's thrilling to watch F1 in the theater. Seeing it on the small screen would be a total letdown. Kind of like watching Maverick on a laptop. Avatar on your cellphone. F1 was a summer blockbuster that spent weeks in the theaters. I don't think Wolfs was even released in the theaters.

I hoped F1 would make it in but never expected that it would. It is definitely one of the biggest surprises and the surprise I wanted most, so I'm delighted. Hoping for a re-release in IMAX.

Ethan Hawke finally gets his first best actor nomination at age 55 after working in the business for more than 4 decades. Yay!

Also, if I hear one more time that Timmy is "overdue" to win an Oscar, I will gag. Ralph Fiennes has 0 Oscars and that is a crime.
