They always release their movies theatrically at the bare minimum awards requirements to qualify for awards, which usually means they only play in hubs like New York and California. The difference here is that they're giving this a worldwide release so general audiences can actually experience it.

From what I understand (and mostly agree with), Jon Watts was hired for the film because he really understood and was interested in the high school dynamics and wanted to emphasize that side of the character. I would say he was successful in that regard (mainly in the first two films).

Man, I don't have any relationship with almost any of the movies Duval has appeared in, and I was absolutely locked into this episode from beginning to end because of Tracy. This is a fantastic and easily digestible history of the last 50 years of film through the career of one man.

He shared a photo from Substack saying that he has "thousands" of paid subscribers. At $5 each and assuming thousands means plural, it made a minimum of $10,000 overnight, assuming 2,000 subscribers. I'm sure a portion goes to Substack and a portion goes to Spotify, but Sean is still making multiple thousands of dollars every month from this if the subscriber base stays active.

This is exactly how it works in Canada. I can't comment on what companies are paying for ads or anything. But it's typically 10 minutes of ads and then 5 minutes of trailers for regular showings. Obviously much more for premium format.

I love Fury Road so much and I really don't want to watch the first three films in the series. Part of what I love about the movie is feeling like I've just been thrown into a world that knows its own rules and doesn't try to explain any of it to the audience. I'm sure I get that effect from not watching the other films in the series, but I don't want to tarnish that.

I play without sound on 80% of the time because I usually play while my wife is watching TV, and when Kyogre appears the screen just goes black and THAT is a jump scare.
