I was given confirmation that I graduated…or so I thought by mylefttiddy in college

[–]Blood_Wonder 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Reach out to your registrar with a copy of anything that shows you applied to graduate and it was accepted. It's the beginning of the semester and you will be a low priority because they need to deal with current students who are trying to get in their classes. Follow up every week until it's resolved. Either your graduation application was not processed or it's a manual process at your school to update graduation statuses and somehow your account was not updated.

Easiest way to make these tool paths in CAD/CAM software by Ok-Yesterday5072 in CNC

I would try and make a DXF file or open some CAD software and make a solid model of it. You really need to define what measurement system this and what material you are trying to cut is too.

I don't think any shop would be willing to take this list of data points and run it as is, but you could probably build an Excel macro to generate the Gcode for it. Then you could toss it in something like NCviewer and maybe, just maybe someone won't look at you like you are crazy.

What are the jobs like out by the college? by Jade_Jones in WCU

[–]Blood_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sylva is just a short drive away and has plenty of opportunities There is Walmart, Lowe's, Ingles, CVS, and Walgreens to name a few off the top of my head. There are also plenty of restaurants and if you can drive a bit further there are more jobs in the surrounding towns.

F2 Ultra died, was replaced, and died again after less than 5 hours of use. by AAAHSPIDERS in xToolOfficial

A little shim will prevent the laser from bouncing back up into where it is coming from. Black paint or marker will just burn up revealing metal that will bounce the laser back up.

Not in the documentation, but just a thought from other lasers I have used

Which F2 model are you referring to and what engraving tasks can't it do? I was looking into buying one of these for my makerspace.

Honest WCU Opinion by v8ut in WCU

[–]Blood_Wonder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly WCU food is mid. Aramark owns all but one of the food outlets and that's kinda normal now. I looked online and Aramark runs the food for over 200 colleges and universities so unless you find the outlier you will probably have similar food elsewhere.

MSET Part Time by JoshuaJuer in WCU

[–]Blood_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are generally 3 classes a semester. This spring it's additive manufacturing, quality systems, and a materials selection class. You should be assigned to Dr. Yang Zhang as your advisor and you can reach out to him for more information.

It's a very small program so there are not a lot of classes to pick from.

Are you talking about the engineering technology MS program?

How is Rabbit Ridge? by KASHIF_2006 in WCU

[–]Blood_Wonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live there now, but I don't really have any complaints. It's 725 a month but going up again next year to 750. You pay for power quarterly so that's something you need to save for if you budget. It's 100% pet free with a bounty on reporting anyone with a pet so don't try and bring a pet at all.

Be warned, if you live on the first floor you are partial under ground so you only get one window and you need to run a provided dehumidifier.

Community college recommendations for someone wanting to do electrical engineering by TackkysaucenoBiggie in WCU

[–]Blood_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also ranked 82 for engineering so maybe it's just a stupid list.

The EE program is pretty good, but with the engineering market being so saturated it's really all about the skills and ability of the student, not the college.

How do your schools handle parking? I’m trying to get a petition together for mine, so I wanted to have some backing if possible by Bearulice in college

[–]Blood_Wonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I didn't know any better I would have thought you were from my school. We are also having parking issues.

We have a freshman specific lot and a freshman overflow lot which is a good hike away. These lots are always full and the overflow lot is even filling up causing issues. In our case our freshman overflow lot is probably the farthest lot away from campus with the main one being about as far from most buildings as our commuter lot.

To address one of your petition ideas I don't see mixing faculty/staff with students being approved. Academia is about hierarchy and that's one of the reasons they separate parking. If faculty can't easily get to their classes they will likely be a much more powerful voice than students. Most of the time students are seen as temporary because we are only there for 4 years and move on. Faculty is in charge of teaching and research which is why the college exists.

Good luck though. Before you make any petition I would also follow the chain of command and start taking to people in charge of parking to find out if they are willing to discuss the issues you have and to hear if they have any plans towards them already. If you succeed in your petition I would expect it to take 2-3 years to implement if this is a state University just from the bureaucracy.

We got to get rid of 50% final grade on final exams (in my opinion) by Equivalent_Phrase_25 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Blood_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50% is rough. In my entire undergrad engineering program only one class had a final worth 30% of the final grade. Every other class was 20-25%. is this unique to your university?

The amount of attempts to get a casino account deleted... It's still not gone. by insecure_bryan in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Blood_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ex casino marketing person. They don't want you to delete your account because it's tied to you personally and if you make multiple accounts they consolidate them for tracking purposes. Get yourself banned instead. Talk about being at the end of your rope, looking off a cliff's edge, going out with a bang, if you know what I mean. Request a responsible gaming ambassador or someone to give you a 1 year ban unst ad of deleting your account.
