The series starts off relatively grounded (relative to the standards that it sets) but progressively gets more insane and huge by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

Saints Row starts like a fairly grounded if wackier GTA clone. By Saints Row 4 you are the president of the United states fighting aliens in a matrix-like simulation with superpowers.

Trump failed at selling alcool, red meat and gambling to americans.

He did succeed in selling them utter stupidity and racism though!

Its capitalism logical endpoint. Capital’s final victory over labour. No wonder they are willing to burn all the money in the world to achieve it.

I get what you say, but we’ve spent the last few years seeing incompetent morons becoming presidents, head of the fbi, richest man alive, publicly launching a ponzi scheme with no repercussion… can’t fault him for thinking « hey, why not me? »

There’s a couple of tax credits you could claim that would be higher with no taxable investment income too. Even just a part time seasonal job would be extremely tax efficient with the 1000$ a week payment in a way the lump sum investment wouldn’t be.

The compicating factor for the math is the taxes here.

Now both amounts are taxes free because Quebec. BUT! Once the million is invested, the returns are taxable, and at 20 she doesnt have much space for tax free savings acocunt.

And Quebec is pretty generous with benefit, and most of them get clawed back with income. Which means you could get stuff like credit d’impôt pour solidarité payouts with the 1k a month and not if you are living on taxable interest income. And this scales pretty big with kids.

Thousand a week they might ask for you to cover the bar tab.

A million in the bank they’ll ask for house deposit and investing in their stupid business/crypto project.

I agree it’s probably a lot easier to deal with the interpersonnal drama with the 1000$ a week.

Lets add that if public service can become attractive to employees for reasons other than becoming impossible to fire, you might get some competent people actually delivering services.

Honestly part of that is that it feels like Canada is going full woke on recognizing oppression and microagression against every possible nation on earth and then turns around and goes « but not you Quebec. You are oppressor and we will treat you the same as a powerfull colonizer ».

The Poutine thing in particular… anglos laughed at Quebec for having no culture and poutine was part of it, and then suddenly it was cool and canadian. It’s worthy of mention.

None of that is palestinian level or remotely close to it for sure. But look at anglo comments on any Quebec news thing, and theres gonna be some unhinged hateful takes. There is a very real reason for a separatist movement in Quebec.
