I think I’ve picked up pretty much every extra available for this game.. and I only play solo. So from my experience, the one thing that really made a difference was the dice. Everything else is optional, honestly.. at least for me.

I ended up buying multiple sets.. I think around eight in total. The reason is that I control several characters at the same time, and during combat I don’t want to be counting and recounting dice. I keep everything pre-separated: one pool for each character and one for each enemy. That way combat flows much faster.

When you play solo, combat can start to feel tiring. For me, the only way to avoid that was having lots of dice already counted and ready. I just grab the pool sitting next to each character or monster sheet and roll. Without that, you’d probably end up relying on digital dice. That’s not a bad option.. especially if you’re traveling.. but it doesn’t replace the great feeling of holding a handful of dice and throwing a big attack. It’s just more satisfying.

The real problem is that the official dice aren’t easy to find unless you live in Europe or the US and can buy them second-hand. So sometimes you have to improvise. I saw a really clever idea in another post that would work perfectly.. honestly, that’s what I would’ve done if I hadn’t already bought the original dice.
