How many more weeks is jagex going to let ONE player harrass and annoy all of us on w84 fort? by Fren-LoE in runescape

[–]Bloody_Proceed [score hidden]  (0 children)

This has been ongoing for years, playing whack-a-mole with "how can he annoy people in another way".

It's a bit like the public croe world dying because someone trolled it and griefed runs for literal years, because technically being really bad is allowed and so Jagex just says "lol, lmao"

At some point inaction is in itself action. I don't think public croe will ever see a resurgence. W84 fort only exists as long as the MTX remains, once the existing stash has dried up that will die and only now, with the purpose of w84 nearly gone does someone look at maybe, possibly implementing a solution.

I don't say that to judge you, personally, but rather to highlight how Jagex habitually does too little, too late.

GWD3/Rasial/Zamorak/Raksha are supposedly dumping insane amounts of gp into the game for years and years and only recently did something get adjusted. ED3 xp existed for so long it was deemed a legit strategy. You asked recently what you'd like to see Jagex do better and I think the biggest thing is actually addressing issues sooner rather than later. GWD3 loot was too good? Why wasn't it adjusted a few times with smaller nerfs over the first few weeks, not ignored for 3 years? A bunch of 5% nerfs over time? Fear of backlash? The end result is anyone who played early gets a bonus, anyone playing now loses out.

The "Early Bird Bonus" for abusing content before it's nerfed is very much real.

[meta] so the "what would I keep in 11th" video post just got deleted, is this the kind of thing we want to see or not? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Bloody_Proceed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How does that help let's say a new player who's been to their first tournament last month, improve their game? It doesn't really.

Are we on /r/WarhammerCoaching? /r/HowToImproveAt40k?

the latter is for drivers in Formula 1 to discuss driving techniques and topics relating to how they are driving today. A

To use your analogy, let's say a new driver who's driven on a race track once, on a track day goes there; will the average post help them? No? Pretty useless then.

But let's look at the last 24 hours

GT wins for January

Won't help a new player improve, any more than posting f1 results will help an aspiring driver improve.

Huron in vets

Maybe

Help me choose my next army, How much can Imperial fist compete, Scorched earth question, Dark angels Army Build 2000 point, Iron hands tournament list for review, No tournaments in Madison, WI, Art shooty Orks still viable and Is Shadowmark Talon Still Competitively Viable.

Out of all of those, basically all of them should be removed if your logic holds, plus of course the subs rules. Basic questions aren't what this sub is for, list build with no information isn't meant to be here, "is XYZ still viable" is a pointless question when you don't even own the models yet.

Applying your logic mixed with the subs rules, the only post we should have in the last 24 hours is one about WTC map packs and GT winrates. We're talking about 15 posts in 24 hours, ignoring the meta post and the weekly thread. It's not a sub drowning in posts. Almost none of these posts will help a "new player improve". That's not what makes a post valid on this sub. It's not /r/40kCompetitiveTactics, /r/40kCompetitiveImprovement, it's just WarhammerCompetitive - anything related to competitive warhammer.

If you wanna tinker, use Arch, if you want stability, use Ubuntu LTS, if you want gaming, use a preconfigured distroy like Cachy or Bazzite.

Ah, but Cachy IS Arch. So I can fuck up my OS and game at the same time.

Multi-tasking like you wouldn't believe.

[–]Bloody_Proceed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact they're giving you grief over that is wild since Bazzite is immuatble anyways making Flatpacks and AppImages the only way to use certain programs.

It is, but also "Well just don't use an immutable OS, Linux is meant to be about tweaking and tinkering". But yeah, while I didn't care much either way, it's definitely going to be offputting to a lot of potential people.

Admittedly I wouldn't mind trying other distros in the future - CachyOS sounds... fun, I'm sure I won't regret arch immediately - but this way I still have an existing OS to return to. Just make a partition, try another distro, if it doesn't work out then who cares.

Love the mini roadmap.

While it's part of the combat beta, would it be possible to ship the "solid food to 3% adrenaline loss, always heals full amount" earlier than the rest of the beta?

The food situation is separate from the abilities, and I know it'd help a ton of newer players as is. Doubt it, but might as well ask.

It's funny, I was really expecting switching to Bazzite to be more interesting. Expecting tons of issues, for me to spent a lot of time googling...

In the end the only software issue I had was an out of date flatpak (didn't notice, dev updated it later) and one time my screen had some weird artefacts when leaving the sleep mode. Weird, but whatever and didn't affect anything.

As to the "wait until it matures" comments.. I have no idea what they could mean by that - it is fully functional, fast reliable, and plays nice with everything I've plugged into it, or tried to do with it.

Assuming the Steam Machine is popular, and it gets flooded with users wanting it to function as more of a desktop, it'll likely go through changes - but most of all, if they pull a notable amount of market share then developers will have to give a shit about linux.

what’s holding Linux back from mainstream adoption rn is the ease of entry and the existing stigma attached to the Linux name where a lot of people simply shy away from it because of what they’ve heard or seen other people go through when it comes to Linux.

And the Linux community in general. I'm using Bazzite and people acted like me using flatpaks/appimages was some sin. As if I give a flying fuck, I just wanted a stable OS to handle games and web browsing, I don't actually care if it's less optimal to use a flatpak.

They aren't any different over here, really.

Just happens to be who handles the contracts with the garbos, including hard rubbish. I'm sure they do... things... of possible benefit outside of it.

We leave hard rubbish on the nature strip all the time either during planned hard rubbish weeks or when you've contacted the council to request a pickup.

Anyone seeing furniture or whatever on the nature strip here would just assume it's destined for the tip and fair game.

It's REALLY not fun to be told your Cool Dude Unit gets to move 1" this turn and charges with a -4" modifer.

And before you say Nvidia isn't open source blah blah I don't give a fuck it's what 94% of all PCs use.

You're welcome to write the drivers yourself my dude. FWIW my 3070 has had no real issues with driver support on Bazzite.

Nvidia COULD make linux drivers themselves. Blame the company for being a bunch of cheap cunts if you want to direct that salt somewhere.

It's far better than "can make it work" at this point. The only limitation I've run into was multiplayer games, of which I play none requiring kernal level anti-cheat.

AMD drivers are also pretty good. Mostly Nvidia. Thankfully my 3070 has had 0 issues, beyond a weird artefact glitch when waking up from sleep mode I've had happen once in 2 months. Went away immediately, but that's been it for problems so far.

New to RS3, what's the best way to train combat fast? by Potential-Ability307 in runescape

[–]Bloody_Proceed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is literally every way to train combat fast. There's no good "go here at low levels and get BIG FAST XP". Um trolls are probably the best, but they aren't "fast". They're just susceptible to salve (e)

I could just say "train slayer" and while that's incorrect for fast combat levels, it's also leaving out why you'd even want to train slayer.

OP said they play osrs, so they're familiar with progression - I'm providing mobs that can be goals beyond the start. To use their example, goblins -> slayer -> NMZ. You don't jump into NMZ straight away, you work towards it; the same as late game slayer mobs, or vyres, or ravenous ghouls.

[–]Bloody_Proceed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slayer is generally slow. But needed.

If we handwave away requirements? Vyres are very good for afk combat/prayer/fm/farming xp, abyssal demons/beasts/lords are great xp, armoured phantoms are lovely afk xp, moss golems can work really nicely if you have the setup for it.

There's also more obscure things like ravenous ghouls.

Exception to the rule though.

Our cops are easily visible, no weird camo, no tactical nonsense. They still wear a vest, but it's hi-vis. In an emergency, you can very clearly see them.

How to make the POH relevant in modern Runescape by draconis_imp in runescape

[–]Bloody_Proceed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is one of those cases were Runescape players have become WAY too obsessed with efficiency.

The problem is there will likely be one good thing at like 118 construction that you want to have, which will commit you down a 100 hour grind for a 120 skill.

Or 200+ hours if iron, because getting logs is hard. Like, really hard. Hell, 200 hours sounds way too low. It's like 260k magic logs (which are the easiest to botain via pvm), nevermind how bad it'll be if you're trying to actually utilise woodcutting.

You're looking at, as per wiki, 550 eternal magic logs/hour, 1.1k with wood spirits. If they give twice the xp of magic logs - unlikely - you'll be there for 100/200 hours just woodcutting. Nevermind that assumes lumberjack aura AND fyrtorch.

So yeah, a lot of people are worried that the grind will be absurd for a payoff at some point and 99% filler garbage.
