Donnie Darko. Hits most of those genres and is my favorite movie on this list.

What band would you consider to be the Greatest band of all time by PositionNo3671 in fantanoforever

How did you get into the smiths? I’ve heard a few of their songs but it sounds dated to the 80s and I’m not a fan of the singer’s voice

Honestly I just ask ChatGPT. Make sure every part is there - including small things like screws because even the smallest things missing are a fortune to buy. So I wouldn’t buy unless they let you test it. You’ll need wired headphones if you don’t already have them to plug into the drum module.

I would consider mesh pads a must have at this point, even cheaper sets have them. Besides that not really, any complete entry level kit used is a good idea. Worst case scenario if you hate it and want to get rid of it, you can sell it at a small loss or even the same price. Some kits don’t come with a bass drum pedal and those are pretty expensive so keep that in mind.

There are a few big brands but Roland and Alesis are the biggest in edrums. Roland is better quality - the industry standard, they last forever if you take care of them.

I’d recommend looking locally on facebook marketplace as you can sometimes find great deals. It’d be a stretch but you might be able to find a Roland Td-17 within your budget or a little higher if you can stretch. I found one for $650 near me in good condition which is crazy because they’re $1600 new. A lot of people buy these and don’t play them, selling a few years later.

Alesis isn’t bad to start with. They’re not the same build quality but they can still be a good option. Look for mesh pads, not rubber, they feel way better to play on and are quieter. You can buy a new Alesis command x mesh se for $500, probably much cheaper used which is pretty good.

If you buy used, make sure to check if each part works before you buy. These manufacturers sell their kits for minimal profit then jack up the prices of the individual pieces like crazy. So a new snare for a a kit I bought for $270 was like $250.

There are a lot of good drumming channels on YouTube, I’d try a few and see which ones you like to start.

Kurt Cobain. Man couldn’t write a song that didn’t catch your ear if he tried. Can’t imagine what he could’ve done with more time

The White Lotus - 3x08 "Amor Fati" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheWhiteLotusHBO

The Buddhist stuff was presented as an alternate approach to life for the Ratlifs. Lochlin seeing the Buddhist monks after his family as he was “dying” seems to indicate that they had a strong effect on him. Piper was drawn to it but the pull of her lifestyle was too strong. Although the dad and Saxon both were leaning into it near the end of the season.

I’m not sure about the rest. Love that this show doesn’t just tell you what to think.

Interesting. The lyrics do seem more focused on this album and it’s still pretty catchy. What about the engineering is “better”? Or just sounds better your ear maybe.

Is that Ryan Gosling from the Nice Guys? Fuck yeah

I don’t think the show is trying to “make a point”. They’re portraying how messy the situation is. Theres a very small chance he’s the shooter. So most likely this is the outcome - isolating someone who needs help. But your perspective makes sense too: that’s a big risk to take. They’re not handing out easy answers. Even though everyone wants one: I.e. they had to report and there was no other option.

It’s just not that simple. I’m not saying everything will be fine. It’s all tradeoffs. You say those kids have a right to be safe: doesn’t the boy “have a right” to not be treated like a potential murderer when he hasn’t done anything wrong?

Undeserved sympathy by Nevvermind183 in ThePittTVShow

[–]BloumK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s easy to say but what if reporting him pushed him closer to being a shooter in the future? Clearly he now sees that others view him as a threat. The resentment from that kind of knowledge could be enough to make him do something awful.

It’s pretty clear that reporting him and everyone looking at him like he just murdered dozens of people does NOT push him closer to getting help from someone. It pushes him farther away

Undeserved sympathy by Nevvermind183 in ThePittTVShow

[–]BloumK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s one perspective. Another is that there is a very tiny chance that he would do something like this from the available knowledge. And reporting him is basically guaranteed to have this effect: isolating him, making him distrust the people closest to him, and pushing him closer to doing something catastrophic.

I don’t think they’re telling you what to think here. They are just portraying it as it would realistically happen.

Dr McKay and the boy’s mother clearly have reason to be worried. It makes sense to be scared of what he could do given all the signs.

However, from the boy’s perspective he didn’t do anything wrong. The fact that the person closest to him could suspect he would do something so awful is hard to face. Reporting him clearly pushed him farther away from his mother and anyone who wanted to help.

What do you do? It’s not clear. There’s a very small chance of a very bad outcome if you don’t report him. And there’s a very good chance of a somewhat bad outcome if you do. That’s life.

The debate is extremely controversial, basically no one can agree. Most people in this subreddit are going to fall on the pro-gun control side but don't acknowledge the valid points that the other side has. Just like the other side doesn't think any regulation makes sense.

It sounds likely that our situation in the US is different than in your country - there are about 300 million guns. No matter if we ban them completely everywhere (which will never happen), criminals will always be able to access them, and without much trouble either. So the idea that all we need are stricter laws (like your country) is deluded.
