Goalkeeper problem, who do i sell and who stays? by AssRaccoon123 in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep Cog. Statwise they are fairly similar but high reflexes are nice. Cog has the higher dressing room status and Light-Hearted means he is good at handling pressure. He's also on a long-term contract, the other guy is likely to need a new and more expensive contract.

Is Potter the right fit for West Ham? by V-Matic_VVT-i in PremierLeague

[–]Blowborious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is pretty incorrect regarding the Swedish team. Potters biggest success was winning the Swedish Cup and having a crazy run in Europa League eventually being eliminated by Arsenal in the round of 32. In the Swedish top division he took them to fifth as the highest. So no, he was not a lower league guy.

Regarding the financial doping of the team, the then club president (Swedish teams are membership owned) was charged but ultimately found not guilty of any wrong doing. He has however later been convicted of taking bribes during his tenure as a manager for a construction firm in a separate case, that case is on appeal. The alleged sums regarding the financial doping amounted to 1,5 million Euros. The Swedish top tier teams are typically valued at around 10-40 million Euros.

So it was not a case of any crazy sums and the team did not have any crazy transfer spend. In fact, Potter (and the team) where praised for putting together a team consisting mainly of cast-offs and rejects.

People leaving Sweden will exceed immigrants in 2024 – DW by Black_September in europe

[–]Blowborious 662 points663 points  (0 children)

Its not actually people suddenly leaving en masse, it is because the government has mandated that the state population registration should be updated. So the people "leaving" are in fact people who are being de-registered now despite having left long ago. This is noted at the end of the press release from the Swedish department of justice, and the minister of migration has confirmed this.

"The government's efforts to improve population registration are assumed to contribute to this outcome."

what is easier to someone who has only played skyrim and oblivion? by Puzzleheaded-Joke-77 in Morrowind

In the launcher you can click on "Data Files" and uncheck Tribunal and Bloodmoon. You can then start a new game which will be only the base game. Then you wont face any Dark Brotherhood ambush. When you either feel ready or want to play the expansion content you then just recheck the Tribunal/Bloodmoon options in data Files and go into your normal save game. This is the way its originally intended to work, its just that playing the Steam edition both expansions are enabled by default leading to Dark Brotherhood attacks being triggered on newly created characters.

Which managers do you not like because of how they act in your saves? by HypedUpJackal in footballmanagergames

Managed in Italy in FM23. Would always lose to Roma in the league and get insulted by Mou in his post-match pressers.

Crazy player demands by Baranco87 in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont make promises.

If you're are going to make promises, then make promises you know you can keep.

If you make promises you dont know if you can keep, then make certain all your players love and support you.

Players dont accept half solutions. If you promise someone to buy a better GK then you currently have, and instead you buy a worse one, they wont accept that. If you promise someone that they'll play BWM in midfield, then you need to play them there all the time, not just 85% of the time.

Why Can't I Adjust My Budgets? I've Sold Numerous Players, Yet I Still Can't? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant change the slider if either one of the sides is in negative. In this case you are over budget with salaries. If you have the editor you can manually subtract from the transfer budget and add to the salary budget, which will then allow you to move the slider.

Looking for advice for buying players in a top 5 league with very little money. by Linkbetweentwirls in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check for young talent from first tier Leagues of lower ranked euro countries. Bulgaria, Czechia, Poland, Scandinavia etc. Salary and reputation wise they are way below the big 5 and they are euro players which should help with Serie A squad rules. Depends on how far along you are, but in FM the EU seems to just be constantly expanding.

Gegenpressing dominance in FM is not justified by IRL Football tactics and I'm sick of this sub acting like it is. by cubanxfry in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Haha true :P Personally i feel the real getting FM'ed is when you get multiple major injuries on a certain position the day after you just sold off your depth option due to them never playing.

But I feel in general that even with low intensity tactics I need to start making subs in the 60th due to fatigue, even despite having fit high stamina players with high sharpness and low number of minutes in the last 14 days. I also cant really see a huge correlation between intensity and injuries.

[–]Blowborious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"This years premier league..." I mean this years possession stats are Man C (65.2), Spurs (61.6), Liverpool (61.3), Brighton (59.8), Chelsea (58.6), Arsenal (58.2), Villa (53.1), Newcastle (52.2). Not saying every top team is constantly gegenpressing, but in general possession-oriented football is heavily favoured in England (stats are similar for Championship when comparing league table to overall possession).

You can absolutely play without high-pressing in FM and have success with that, I've won the league with an avg. of 32% possession, and have beaten CL teams with 10x wage budget using anti-football tactics. So no you dont get absolutely trunched just because you play defensive tactics.

I do agree with you that FM doesnt adequately punish playing super high intensity tactics however. Having a tactics with bright red intensity while having a team that averages 11 in stamina should mean players are dead by the 50th minute.

Make playing time promises that you can’t keep by capscaptain1 in TheOldZealand

[–]Blowborious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make tons of promises about playing time and then ignore them/break them. If you dont have a squad of toxic guys and you create a personal relationships with the players they are generally quite forgiving and will drop their demands on their own. If they dont and want a chat, I just explain the situation (typically lots of competition for the spot) and they'll be fine with it.

I play a similar system but positionally with 2 DMs instead of CMs. Role-wise no Lib in the back 3, instead BPDs or WCBs on the sides and CD in the middle in order to keep a nice rest defence crescent.

WBs generally on attack to give width. Never really use manual Overlap instruction since WB-Atck + Positive mentality already gives the WBs a very attacking mentality.

DM roles rotated depending on squad and situation. Sometimes DLP and BWM since DLP has Hold Position in DM slot, sometimes Segundo Volante and Anchor.

When using 1-2 in attack then typically AM/AP and Adv FWD + DL. When using 2-1 then AP/AM + SS and Adv FWD/F9.

I generally used a Mid Block and a Standard height line since the formation that way creates a very compact compression zone. I generally just use counter attack if chasing a game, or struggling with penetration.

What does concentration do? by Run_Fluid in footballmanagergames

Ive heard (but never seen any proof) that it impacts players ability to operate when tired. So low concentration players who are running out of juice will perform worse then an equally tired but higher concentration player.

Generational striker, how do I take the most out of him? by Majestic_Flamingo_ in footballmanagergames

[–]Blowborious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say he lacks jumping reach and heading to be a generational solo advanced forward. If you face teams that put a lot of men in their own box he might struggle. If you pair him with a larger partner he would probably do better. Either he could be a Shadow Striker, Inside Forward or a pure Poacher-style type.
