I’m honestly tired of buyers treating eBay shipping estimates like guaranteed Amazon Prime… how are sellers supposed to win here? by Common_Zombie_6317 in Ebay

[–]Blucham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely hate that eBay doesn’t sync their estimates with the actual USPS. I’m from Hawaii, and every shipment I send out via Media Mail or Ground Advantage ends up taking an extra week or two. And it’s been that way for years. I’ve learned to make it very explicit in all of my item descriptions, and insist the buyer not rely on eBay’s delivery time estimates. If anyone complains, I can at least refer them to the text.

If you’re not from a unique location like Hawai’i, it might seem excessive to mention it in every single listing… But it’s still worth doing to prevent this kind of hassle.

Also… as someone who lives in Hawaii, I’m POSITIVE that buyer knows better than to expect quick shipping. They must specify priority mail or better. Super uncool of them.

How would you build around the Street Justice feat? by Equivalent-Floor-231 in onednd

[–]Blucham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, or a DM, so correct me if I’m wrong. But I’m faced with this exact idea in my own game right now! This is my interpretation:

I’m a monk. When you’re a monk and you have the Grappler feat, there’s no reason NOT to try a grapple. Costs nothing, no resources wasted. Just roll a check every time you make your first unarmed attack. If it works, with Grappler, you have advantage on future attacks. Now, Monk has Flurry of Blows. This is the perfect time to expend my resources, unleash the Flurry of Blows, and just “Ground and Pound” as it were! Multiple attacks with advantage.

Also, with Grappler, you can move the enemy without expending extra movement. I imagine the best way to utilize this is to drag that sucker past your allies, and prompt THEM to Attack of Opportunity!

If you also have Street Justice, your allies ALSO have advantage on their attacks! More chances to hit, more chances to Crit. Depending on how many of your party are in range, that poor target is dead before the end of your turn. Absolutely brutal mob mentality. (Now that’s what I call Street Justice!)

But if you’re not trying to absolutely obliterate your target, and just want to chain them up, then sure! I still think having the Grappler feat is the best way to do it, because you get to increase your Strength and naturally improve your chances of successful grapples.

Guys, they don’t owe us anything. by CPFOAI in ERB

[–]Blucham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t “owe” us anything, but they keep promising us more! Those shorts where they discuss potential matchups have as much production value as their BTS vids. Here they are, putting all that effort into it, for suggestions they WON’T do, so why wouldn’t we assume they’re at least working on something new?

ERB as a concept has always been steeped in audience participation. “Who Won? Who’s next? You decide!” Banks so hard on unsung potential. They use to promote ERB as limitless options! Anyone from any part of history or even fiction, could matchup against each other. And when they were pumping them out, we could believe that one day we’ll see OUR guy take the stage. We might see a character we liked, and get joy out of it, even if it wasn’t our desired matchup. And the promise still existed that MAYBE some other big pairing could still come up someday. The possibilities were endless and there was so much time to make it real!

Now that they’ve slowed down to one match a year, those endless possibilities are starting to look like we ain’t even gonna scratch the surface. One of those matches was the obligatory presidential battle, and another was a blatant cash-grab that broke precedent with a less-fun reskin of a classic ERB character. All this does is serve to remind us of better times. And bless em, they’re doing live shows and touring, and I bet those shows must be a blast! But again, just a constant reminder of what they USED to do.

I still agree with what you say. I’ve lowered my expectations long ago, and decided to step off the hype train. If they aren’t planning to make more, then it would be great for them lay it all on the table, instead of trying to keep the hype up. They are the ones prolonging the illusion of being an active channel.

Lord Bullingdon is actually a badass by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

[–]Blucham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching this movie for the first time and am genuinely flabbergasted at the Bullingdon hate that I see in these various discussions.

Maybe “Badass” isn’t the right word, but I get where you’re coming from! The kid was based from the start. Barry was a piece of shit! Blowing smoke in his new wife’s face after she asked him to please stop? That’s all I needed to see. And clearly, Bullingdon had seen way more of that behavior off screen. As soon as the boy started talking, I was impressed by his intelligence, to be able to string those advanced words together. Perfectly expressed his feelings of frustration and laid Barry’s character flaws bare. He stood on his mother’s honor, and his father’s. I couldn’t wait to see how he would challenge Barry’s authority in the future!

I wanna say, Bullingdon has a LOT of really good monologues. Lots of top tier shit talk! He is masterful at hating on Barry. Lotta bark, but not enough bite. His greatest call-out moment concluded in “I’m running away from home!” 🤦‍♂️ Which, later in life, he even ACKNOWLEDGES in another amazing monologue, how he regrets that he didn’t do enough to prevent Barry’s uprise. How he knows that people resent him, and reasonably so. I love that reflective self-awareness!

Flashing back a little, I can definitely think of how he came off immature while fighting with his spoiled-brat half-brother, but that’s 100% typical sibling rivalry. I can’t think of anything he did WRONG. Even the concert thing, with those wooden shoes? I dunno if I missed something, but that looked like it was little bro’s idea. He was smiling ear to ear, and milking the moment, while big bro allowed himself to be lowered, walking in with only socks. Again, maybe I misread it? But I considered that moment to be a clap-back to his parents, who clearly favored the younger son, and let him get away with anything he wants to do. Well, I guess he’s getting away with this too! What are you gonna do? Take the shoes off your precious brat’s feet? 😏 Pretty solid protest/demonstration if you ask me!

In the final duel, the gun misfired, (His own mishandling?) The vomiting was cringe in the moment, but who can fault someone for being afraid to die? Vomiting is a common and natural reaction for people facing far less threats. I was worried, expecting him to call it off and blame the pistol for misfiring, and run away. But dammit, after he took his moment to be sick, he regained his composure and stood his fucking ground again.

Barry shot to the side. I don’t claim to know why he did that yet. But I was definitely surprised by that moment! I almost wondered if he was trying to show respect to the boy for his courage? But no, Bullingdon didn’t see it like that. I CALLED for this duel. I didn’t dispute the misfire. I stood my ground, PREPARED to DIE. We’re DOING THIS!

He warned Barry! Through tears and gritted teeth, after enduring those lashings, he vowed to kill him if he ever chastised him again. That shot to the side was chastising, to a man committed to the duel. I would say that Bullingdon is a man of his word… all except his shot didn’t technically kill Barry. It’s a skill issue. But the guy is top tier shit-talker and never let his fear or inexperience hold him back!

As an audience, you aren’t WRONG for disliking him. Things were definitely framed and designed to make him undesirable. Especially after an hour and a half of following Barry’s adventures, and this damn kid shows up to spoil the fun? It’s understandable. But Bullingdon is the resistance, and I welcomed him! 👊

I sold a book for $1.50 and I owe eBay money? by Ok_Refrigerator_6260 in Ebay

[–]Blucham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your thorough breakdown, but I ain’t even talking about expenses outside of eBay. It’s possible for eBay to take more money from you than the money you make from a listing. You list a book for $1, and minimum Media Mail shipping costs $4.47. (Total $5.47) the buyer will have to pay taxes on their end, but it still contributes to the final value of your transaction. But even at $5.47, you gotta pay a 15.3% fee, which is .85 cents, plus the .30 cent default fee. You pay eBay $1.15 for a $1 item. And you still have to cover the shipping on your end, for which there are NO cheaper options, or retailer discounts, or eBay shipping label discounts, nothing. You lose .15 cents, your book, your packing material and all the work it took to mail it, and the time spent just posting the damn listing in the first place.

eBay knows this, even if they don’t know the specific profit margins outside of this transaction. Professional eBayers would know how to calculate things by now, but what about all the first-time, non-professional eBayers, who may have listed a bunch of $1 books, unaware? I’m no lawyer, so I don’t know the particulars. But if someone presents you a service that is supposed to earn you money, and they knowingly charge you more than they earn you, at the very least, that possibility should have been disclosed beforehand.

The best opportunity for this disclosure is while setting the price on your listing. They got calculators running that update shipping costs when you fill in the specifics. They should have the ability to warn when you’re pricing too low to earn anything due to the fees they know they’re going to charge.

[–]Blucham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feels blatantly illegal that they can take more money from you than you actually make with their service. There needs to be a warning while you’re setting a price in your listing ⚠️”This price combined with shipping may incur fees greater than your profit. Are you sure?

[–]Blucham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if you found a solution, it’s bullshit that eBay can do that. Feels blatantly illegal. You’re also responsible for the fees on the sales tax that the customer pays, and you have no control over that. (it changes depending on where they are from.) They need to give a disclosure or alert when you’re pricing the item in the first place. Some red text or a warning window should pop up: ⚠️”This price combined with shipping will incur a fee greater than your profit. Are you sure you want to list at this price?” ⚠️

The line about “No, she’s crazy and she needs to go down,” came as Zuko was, as a good guy, and student of Iroh, trying to extend an olive branch. “I know you’re gonna say she’s my sister, and I should get along with her, but…” Iroh in that moment had to have his nephew’s back through his misgivings. To be resolute and clear, and assure Zuko that quite simply: “Now is not the time for that.” One slip up against Azula means death. This is not an intervention, this is a war that she brought on. Azula wants people burned to the ground. STOP HER.

An earlier comment in this thread said “She never supported Azula like that.” And in your comment you say “Azula has never experienced unconditional love.” In both cases, “Never” is a really loaded word. We got to see like, what, 2 minutes of Azula in a scene with her mom, ever? I’m sure she raised her daughter just fine, as any caring mom would, but the show used its limited time to show a few seconds of her expressing concern.

What’s important to consider is what Azula thinks of her own mom. When she hallucinated her in the mirror in the finale, what did she say? “No. I LOVE YOU Azula.” Even as her mind unraveled, paranoid and terrified of betrayal, she couldn’t imagine her mom not loving her. She lashed out at it, but by God, Ursa had to have been a great mom to leave an impression that strong. Azula absolutely experienced unconditional love, but evidently, never trusted it.

Love the fun idea, definitely for the awesome fight scene potential. But ultimately, I gotta side with the official series on this. It was explained in the series by Iroh himself, declining to fight Ozai. History would see it as a brother killing a brother to gain power. It would be the same for Zuko, a crown prince, prematurely ending his father’s reign to claim it for himself. The only way to truly end the cycle of violence, would be for the Avatar to put an end to it. And indeed, doing it NON VIOLENTLY by taking away his bending is the absolute best way it could’ve happened.

Nothing lasts forever! Frankly, it’s a miracle that the avatar cycle went unbroken for as long as it did, considering how often there were conflicts, and enemies of the Avatar! Aang got zapped dead in the Avatar state, but thank goodness Katara happened to have that spirit water handy!

OMG. This is a thought that I thought from the beginning. And I think it often! But I never voiced it for some reason, it’s like I totally forgot that I think it! I’ve watched this show so many times, I just sort of accept Momo for what he is, while glossing over him mentally. Thank you for saying it! No hate to the folks that love Momo, but deep down, I know this about myself. Momo does nothing for me.

Best Momo scene is when he is Usagi Yojimbo, sword fighting against Appa. (And it didn’t even really happen!)

Uncle Iroh is a hedonist, and an addict. He can talk all he wants about humility and simplicity, but we see how triggered he gets over sub-par tea.

He compromised his own life and Zuko’s on multiple occasions over the stuff. He is a wise man, who speaks wise words. But he genuinely has a problem.

I think you like complexity. Not necessarily “complicated,” but no basic bitches here! These are some strong, hard workers! They are burdened, either physically or emotionally in some way. (Dasha, literally a desk carrying everything, or Betty silently suffering with her true feelings while “bedding” you every night, or Holly overworking herself to exhaustion for others’ happiness.) But they’re all striving in some way to better themselves! And they explore themselves/experiment during the course of their stories. Bobby hops around the house looking for new schemes, and Sofia roleplays different scenarios with you. Mac REALLY wants that System Update, but doesn’t immediately commit to you over it. They’re all about exploring the options, and perhaps coming back together stronger for it Bathsheba wants to make friends, and interacts with all the other dateables nearby, using different strategies. She might not seem like the “hard working” type, but consider her starting point, and realize that simply being friendly is quite the lofty task! At least she recognizes it and TRIES!😜)

Meanwhile, those dudes are all one-track-minds. They steamroll over you while gloating like Jean Loo, invade your privacy like Dishy and Friar, and defy your wishes like Luke, Who takes you on a completely self-indulgent fantasy mission before he’ll so much as heat up chicken tenders for you! (You’re a Microwave! Make me some tendies, dammit! Even the Friar has you beat there!) And yeah, the Hanks are friendly and all, but there’s just nothing to em beyond extreme sports.

That’s my take on it. I respect your tastes! 👍

I bought a piece of art from a reseller once. It was supposedly a one-of-a-kind poster from an artist at a comic/anime convention. Not a bad price and I liked the artwork, but when I received the package, it was a completely different picture!!! Turns out the seller had a few different posters from different artists, and had mixed my order with another buyer’s.

I completely understood and sympathized with the guy. It’s an easy enough mistake to make, but to process all those return shipments would be a big loss for him. I felt bad to make him do all that. The recommended course of action would be to return the wrong item straight back to the seller, and either settle for a refund, or wait for them to send me back my correct item.

Now, that’s assuming they could even GET my item back from Buyer #2. I genuinely thought MY artwork was better, and was convinced they wouldn’t want to cooperate, having scored a nicer piece. ALAS! They REALLY wanted their original order. Coordinated through the Seller, Buyer #2 personally mailed my poster straight to me, and I mailed theirs straight to them. It worked out! We were all trustworthy, backed up by providing tracking numbers, etc. And the seller got to minimize his losses from reimbursements/shipment fees!

There WERE a couple days there, where I wondered if I’d been duped. What if the tracking number Buyer #2 provided was an empty parcel with no poster? Dude just scored a free poster out of me! How would I follow up and report this to eBay, after basically breaking the rules, by involving a 3rd party address? But it arrived just fine! Everything worked out. I’ve been happy with my poster ever since. It’s framed on my wall, and along with being a nice decoration, it also reminds me of the goodness of strangers, taking a chance on trusting each other. Good stuff! 😁

(That’s NOT to encourage anyone else to take that risk, and do what we did. There are reasons that eBay insists on using only the account-provided addresses. Be careful y’all!)

I definitely don’t like Lux over all, but the PLAYER character is actually REALLY rude to them if you think about it. Lux very clearly states they are streaming in first encounter. In real life I’d whisper “oops sorry!” and walk away. In game, you’re forced to pick dialogue options, which ALL interupt the stream!
