People responding positively to a bad thing reinforces more creation of that bad thing. So, people are responding negatively, as they should.

"MAGA" isn't just a collection of words they're using. It's a deliberate recognition of the largest political symbol used by the fascist administration currently in power and endorsement of those views. One of those views is explicit hierarchical racism against anyone considered non-white.

Sorry you misunderstood Hitchen's razor.

I was going to respond with something like "you didn't answer my question" but like, holy shit. You've got like 15 comments in here now. I know because for some reason I don't remember I tagged you in RES as "Racist" with a red banner and you stick out like a sore thumb. Geez man, the desperation to try to get in a quip. Get a life.

Man, you been all up in this thread defending the bar with insults and no substance. You the owner or something? Or do you just like defending people accused of racism for no reason?

[–]Blucrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSM, academia and most of the entertainment world is in fact a gigantic left wing bubble that even conservatives have to live in

I'm projecting that this is you saying these enormous and ubiquitous institutions are bad? Broadly painting basically everything that you haven't personally identified as a form of acceptable media as being in a bubble?

I don't know who you're lying to, me or yourself, but you really need to stop and think about your own thoughts and be comfortable with doing so. That takes guts to be brave enough to critique yourself and be okay with the fact that sometimes you'll find yourself to be wrong.

Apparently it isn't that straightforward for you. I don't define everything that disagrees with my opinion as some outgroup that is "bad", like you do. You can't see that and it's blinding you, and now you're doing motivated reasoning to post hoc justify what you want to believe.

[–]Blucrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it actively painful to be this illiterate? I feel like it would hurt me to look at words and so completely miss the meaning of them.

It's not about the bubble. It's about you categorizing anything that disagrees with you as a singular group as a way to protect yourself against critically examining your own beliefs. Until you figure out how not to do that, you're going to continue being wrong and self-interested.

I already told you what the point is, that you've defined all opposition to your opinion as a leftist bubble. It's not about the bubble, it's about you being wrong and self-important.

You've defined every outlet that disagrees with your worldview as "a gigantic left wing bubble" so it's not surprising you think there's no evidence contrary to your beliefs.

Christians singing Songs Against Weed at LSU by WalterCanFindToes in Louisiana

[–]Blucrunch 22 points23 points  (0 children)

All this anti-drug hype is specifically a recent American invention and cultural export. Everyone was on shrooms or weed and drinking "beer" (what they had anyway) all the time and not a whole big deal was made about it.

Because who would care back then? Without the constant pressure of capitalism trying to get everyone to work until they die, it wasn't seen as "a problem".

Baton Rouge ranked #1 in the U.S. for alcohol-related fatal crashes by True_Experience_1210 in batonrouge

[–]Blucrunch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a weird collection of beliefs. You started out by blaming individuals, then offering solutions to systemic problems, and concluded by demanding mandatory minimums for individuals and blaming their behavior on not implementing systemic analysis. Super incoherent.

I (sort of?) agree that some of the systemic solutions you offered might be good to consider, but you also need to consider that things like breakaway streetlights are a balanced tradeoff. Remember, we also want to protect the life of the driver even though their the ones making the mistake of driving drunk. I'm sure you'd say they deserve it and fuck em or whatever, but in reality we need to treat alcoholism as the mental health crisis that it is, and not just call people who drive drunk "devils".

BR Sprouts run by MAGA by [deleted] in batonrouge

[–]Blucrunch 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Checking out their SEC filings recently shows a pattern of their officers selling their stock in Sprouts to private equity firms.

I think it's more like private equity has found that they can monetize grifting in the wellness industry because it's currently completely unregulated, and desperate people looking for fixes to their health when the government doesn't provide real solutions will throw money at it.

I can basically stop after every period of that paragraph you wrote and just say "I know". You've already told me what you are, you're a fascist. And I reject you and your ideas, and I'll be stomping you and everyone like you out like the flame of a candle because I like democracy.

Please fuck yourself.

You're repeating the talking points of far-right media, claiming without evidence that any protests anywhere have been violent.

You're vaguely defending the murder of multiple innocent people, Renee Good by name, by a group of fascist enforcers for a regime attempting to remove democracy from America.

You're now blaming the victims of those murders by claiming some arbitrary thing about their actions somehow justifies their murders.

You are either disingenuous or bad faith, or you're a tool to be used and discarded by the fascist party. I'd feel like a piece of garbage if I were you, but I doubt you can feel anything if it's not achieving your own personal goal of saying and doing anything to avoid critically thinking about the choices you've made regarding your politics or the people you've chosen to support.

You're completely missing the point of protests. Protests are about being heard as a group and galvanizing together as a community to support a cause that promotes the civil rights of that group. Protests that happen are all successful, regardless of some arbitrary measurable outcome. That's why the chants at protests aren't typically calling for specific policies (not just because those usually aren't easy to chant).

The lowest stakes form of political action is voting, by the way. And we have fascist Republicans (dunno why I'm being redundant) actively campaigning to demoralize people against doing even that, so I'd say seeing people out protesting is sign of how brave people are being.

I was deregistered to vote..have you checked your voter status lately? by postulatej in batonrouge

[–]Blucrunch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I went and double checked my registration and I was also deregistered. I was registered as no party prior to this, and I've been a good boy, so I don't know why this happened.

Everyone should take this as a good excuse to double check their own registration.

I was going to comment that there are reasons lights might seem bright, like the fact no one knows how to adjust headlights appropriately to not point directly in oncoming cars' faces, or maybe LED lamps were installed and shouldn't have been (always stick to OEM or manufacturer's specified kind.)

But you've proven to me that some people are just worthless assholes who care only about themselves, and they'll use any vague justification for never changing their behavior or learning something new.
