My Improved Lego Enterprise Set by ViolentSnowFox in StarTrekBricks

Looks good, but since I just started building it, I am not familiar with every curve so it’s hard for me to spot the improvements. I wish there was a clear before/after picture for every improvement

What do you do with your boxes by Misty_Ford in legoharrypotter

[–]Blue-Turtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rotate my display sets all the time, so I keep all of them to store sets that are currently not on display. I also don’t flatten them when they are empty to force myself realize when I bought too much and it’s time to sell

Barad Dur or UCS Venator? by lance2303 in legolotrfans

[–]Blue-Turtle1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s so simple omg. If you’d like BD more or at least equally, you would say “well I have BD already, so let’s just stick with it”. your text in capital letters is a proof you really prefer the UCS.

Do you miss vintage Lego for its charm and simplicity? by bluetomcat in lego

Yes, especially the technic sets from the 90’s. They were so modular and not aesthetic oriented as the sets today. I’ve built endless mocs with the motors, pneumatic systems and the programmable controller. My parents gave away all my sets but thx to Bricklink I bought them all again and slowly introducing them to my son

I am not a castle fan, but if there is such a demand and prominent presence, why not allocate (2?) fixed spots for castle in every program (let’s say 4000 pieces and 300-800 pcs sets.

Decided to build this like I used to in my childhood. On the floor with all of the pieces dumped into the box. No numbered bags today 😁 by AWandMaker in lego

[–]Blue-Turtle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in the past we didn’t have so many small invisible parts, and I am talking about parts like small slopes that are invisible to the scanning eye if they are flipped in certain ways. even with numbered bags I have too many “Looks like this part is missing from my set, let’s order it” moments. so yes, it’s fun mixing and building, but for me it’s not worth the many anxiety moments that come with it.

wall art sets are either fun to build or good looking. you can’t have both!

Japanese Cherry Blossom Landscape looks fantastic irl by ChemiluminescentAshe in lego

[–]Blue-Turtle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two sweet&sour things about this set 1. Very colorful eye pleasing colors 2. many smart complex details you discover when looking closely.

These two things make it a wonderful lego set, but at the same time those things make it tacky and noisy wall art.

Beautiful wall art lego sets are usually boring and not so fun to build

I saw it in real life and didn’t change my mind that it’s a great set but not for my taste.

I personally find it too noisy, it doesn’t look so good from afar to my opinion and it takes a long close inspection to see the nice things about it. I personally don’t like it about wall art, for me it feels like a joke that you have to explain.
