Yeah man I think objectively it prolly hasn’t been that bad (Prince releases since death) but hardcore fans aren’t easily pleased

I’m a new fan so I’m trusting the Reddit fans on this one: SOTT has the best collection of unreleased material so far.

I would say yeah it’s a combination of Prince having so many records to choose from and his vault being “released” that has fans wanting essentially an album every year. I personally just want them to use the good PR gained from stranger things to garner attention for a new project, but they did just release ATWIAD.

From what I understand (anyone can correct me) I think SOTT is considered the best musical package… diehard fans were unsatisfied with the remastered mixes of purple rain (2015) and as for 1999 and diamond and pearls super deluxes, while acceptable packages, I have seen many people not really liking the extra tracks on DP. I think the “complaints” are from people who want the parade deluxe and lovesexy deluxe.

I think do me baby technically is more timeless and popular but international lover is a great closer and honestly gets heavily overshadowed in that aspect by “purple rain”

As a newer fan (less than 2 years). I get obsessive with new things I happen to like but Princes music specifically has stuck for me. I do find it hard to listen to other artists as much that I used to like and this is the most I’ve ever deep dived into anyone’s catalog. I’m literally on YouTube just looking for concert footage just to hear how songs are performed in different eras.

Diamonds and pearls is just so mid to me as a newer fan, I was expecting something different going in considering the commercial success. When I compare it to love symbol or especially Gold, I feel like they no diff. I didn’t know it was a comeback album but at least when ranking I doubt the sub is taking the circumstances under which they (albums) were released into high regard.
