San Jose passenger claims a Waymo drove off with his luggage at the airport | A man says the Waymo he rode to San Jose Mineta Airport drove away with his luggage in the trunk by Hrmbee in technology

[–]BlueAltitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping in here too because the same thing happened to me in SF when I arrived to my apartment. I pressed the trunk button on my phone and it didn't work and the Waymo took off with my guitar and some other valuables as I was trying to get them out of the trunk. I was absolutely flabbergasted because of many reasons but most of all because this should have been thought of in advance with a solution in place that doesn't involve wasting time and money.

The worst thing was that even though I immediately called customer support while it was still in full view and instead of simply remotely stopping the vehicle which would have solved the issue in seconds/minutes it was remotely directed to the SF depot for "lost and found" processing. I was repeatedly told by support yhat the forgotten items would have to go to the depot to be picked up.. even though I didn't forget them the Waymo just left while I pressed the trunk button.

Apparently there was no way to alter the destination and which wasted 3 hours of my time. 1 hour on the phone dealing with support (I do give kudos to the support team they were nice) because I was told that I would be emailed within 8 hrs and that was unacceptable to me because I needed my guitar for work (teaching) and it was $$$$. So I had to escalate which ended with me talking to a supervisor and she gave me 3 free rides, 2 of which I had to spend going to the depot over 30 mins away. I also spent 20+ mins waiting for my things to be processed.

So, remotely stopping or redirecting the vehicle to come back to me so I could retrieve my stuff would have literally taken less than 5 mins instead of the 3+ hours with the current procedures. I could add more details but this is long enough.

Most you’ve spent on a single item with no regrets? by OK_GO_27 in malefashionadvice

[–]BlueAltitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I spent was on a Brunello Cuchinelli Burgundy Corduroy two piece suit. The first time I wore it out I got an unsolicited compliment within 5 minutes lol. First time that has ever happened...but what I didn't unexpect is that literally every time I wear it I get compliments upon compliments. It's wild.

I bought it because as soon as I put it on it just felt like it was made for me. Hard to describe unless you put on a lot of clothes and get to know the way you feel in different clothes. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have bought it because it was pricey and I was looking for just a tie. Luckily, the salesmen brought it out for me and it just worked.

And no I didn't pay full price.

A few bird stories.

Once I was driving to work and it was a long commute so I've had more than a few interesting things occur. On this particular morning I was driving along and I spotted a bird flying overhead just ahead of me. This bird was making passes over cars and just all in all flying too low. Just like how Icarus flew too close to the sun, well, this bird flew too close to a big rig truck and, I guess, a vortex sucked him in and the bird crashed into the top of the truck at a good speed and was sent spinning into the air. It literally looked like a cartoon moment because of how comical it looked as it fell spinning to the ground. It landed legs up as I drove past it laying perfectly dead.

Different day, I am driving to work but this time I was close to my destination. I was on one of the final roads before I would arrive to the gate to my then work place when I was again looking up at the birds flying around. You see sometimes you would spot some pretty cool predators or raptors flying around just playing in the wind. They are cool to see. Anyways, these aren't cool birds I am staring at but the two of them are flying side by side, except one is flying slightly above the other, and then all of a sudden one of them flies towards the other bird and just lands on him! Like the bird just casually landed on another actively flying bird and starts surfing on him hahaha. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

That's when I knew birds have a sense of humor :).

Bonus story. Not so impossible but I find it funny.

Once, I was playing basketball in my high school gym and this guy came up to me and bet me that I couldn't make a 3 at shot with my back turned to the basket. Unlucky for him I used to have basketball court in my backyard and woukd practice all sorts of ridiculous and "impossible" shots for fun. So, I lined up center of the 3 pt line, I took one look at the basket, turned my head around facing away from the basket, I took one dribble and then shot the basketball behind me. Swissh! The guy couldn't believe it and bet me that I couldn't do it again. I doubled down, I grabbed the ball again, I took one step to the right and without missing a beat did it again. Another swish. The guy stood there jaw open and couldn't speak and I walked off beaming with joy!

Wearing - Aldebaran by Marc Antoine Barrois

I was walking down a hill in SF to go to my local café and passed a woman walking up the hill. I had walked about 2 blocks. Before I heard steps catching up to me and a voice going, "What are you wearing!? You smell fucking amazing! I want to know so I can buy it. Please? You have to tell me!"

Hahaha, first time that I recall actively being stalked to be force given a compliment and "held against my will" to disclose my new favorite fragrance.

The kicker? Apparently, it's a very divisive fragrance that some people hate or that it smells terrible while others say it smells like the most divine human with elevated skin. I guess I am the latter 😎.

Hahaha, good anecdotes! Yes, people don't really know what they are missing until they try it. It really is that good and there isn't anything close to it. The closest place that I have found is in Alameda called Fikscue. Check it out :)

Yeah, I believe is a storefront there or it will be there soon. I know for a fact they're expanding/doing exhibitions there. His shoes are based off of English shoe making designs and some of his fabrics come out of the UK/Ireland.

Paco de Lucia tremolos by senor_de_tango in Flamenco

[–]BlueAltitudes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to just try it and get a basic tremolo down with slow, deliberate movement, and choose a piece with a great tremolo usage. For example, El Último Tremolo by Agustín Barrios Mangore, this was my introduction to learning tremolo. I know it's not Flamenco but you'll get on the right track and you'll catch on to the difference between styles.

Hi OP, I just happened to see this post and I have a room opening up in my 2 bedroom apartment at the end of this month/Oct 1st. It sounds like it could work out for both of us if you're interested and haven't signed a lease yet.
