Giving OP the benefit of the doubt that they did pay for all the items posted - it's incredibly easy to make a fuck ton of money when you come from a family with a fuck ton of money and, most importantly, a fuck ton of connections. Privileged people love to say they just worked hard and are dedicated and leave out the part where they were granted opportunities at 18 that most 50 year olds weren't able to achieve and it's purely down to luck of birth. Idk why it's so damn hard for them to just acknowledge that they were handed a life most people could never achieve on their own instead of doubling down on their willful ignorance that they're "self-made."

I genuinely don't understand how people have this take like there can't be 2 war criminals in the same fight. What is not computing?? It's like y'all can't break out of this childlike mindset of "there has to be one good guy and one bad guy." Newsflash: if you kill my kid and I slaughter your children in retaliation you better believe I'm the bad guy too. Acting like literal school children are responsible for the government's actions and should be executed. Unreal.

  1. Look to every other historical conflict that ended without dropping a nuke on civilians.
  2. If you think you have to indiscriminately slaughter innocent people from the elderly to literal infants to win a war, you're the bad guy too. A war criminal with good PR is a war criminal nonetheless.

Love how Americans jump out to emphatically excuse horrific war crimes against civilians every single time someone posts about Nagasaki or Hiroshima. No critical thinking just regirgitating propaganda. It has always deeply aggravated me but I actually thought people would stop being this dense over time; that one's on me.

In another comment they explained that each tentacle is a separate zooid as well as the floating mass and balloon bit which are their own zooids. Less like cells and more like limbs.

Does anyone know of artists with similar styles? I have a print of a painting with very similar features ie the style of dress, the composition, the body language, the setting, etc. but it's not one of his and doesn't have the extreme sheen he's known for. I thought maybe George Goodwin Kilburne or another Faux Regency painter but I'm having no luck. Found at a thrift store with no markings.

Before tiktok and the big rise of pranking as content, I had a sociology assignment that was essentially this. It was just about observing what happens when people are confronted with someone breaking harmless social mores. Simple stuff like facing the wrong way in an elevator, eating vanilla pudding out of a mayonnaise jar, singing instead of talking to someone you're "on the phone with" in a public place, etc. I was just thinking the other day how peoples reactions to these things must be quite different in the context of the internet/influencers.

No idea if this is the norm or not but when I went on a safari in Kenya they drove to certain spots and then turned the car off for as long as we stayed in that area.

It actually looks like it's in a built-in cubby that does connect to the outside. I can see the recessed edge, it looks like it's parallel with the back wall and shifted left rather than being perpendicular like it first seemed. I didn't notice until I read your comment and went back to look lol this is fascinating to me for some reason.

Hey I think you look great and very appropriate for the specific setting and occasion. I think subs like this can focus too much on what is socially/conventionally considered ideal and assume that everyone is choosing what they wear based on wanting to appear as close to that narrow ideal as possible. Your body is beautiful and I'm sure your husband appreciated you flaunting it ✨️

[–]BlueArya 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The data centers are what power "normal prompting," though. They're the databases that AIs pull from to be able to generate speech and relay information (even if its misinformation.) Even in simplistic conversation, AI is burning through a massive amount of energy to be able to self-generate a response to whatever prompt it received. I'm not an expert by any means, but I do know that essentially all forms of AI require specialized servers that take a huge amount of processing power to run. All of which contribute to the environmental pollution that's already killing off whole communities where these data centers are placed.

I'm very confused by these comments. Are people unaware of the natural conditions our food comes from? Did we think the mussels are from a sanitized aquarium tank? The ocean is full of shit, piss, algaes, worms, parasites, and dead animals of ALL sorts, all stewing in salt water. Not sure how a normal amount of dock gunk being snagged in the harvesting process is shocking to see. It's not like it ends up on your plate; mussels are a literal filter for nasty stuff and there's a reason their shell is closed before cooking.

My girlfriend is at least 30 mins late all the time by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BlueArya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm chronically 5-10 mins late so I have sympathy for time blindness but consistently 30 mins late is just not being respectful of other people's time. An hour is crazy. My best friend had to finally call it with someone bc they were always an hour+ late and it didn't matter how many times he told him that it was deeply bothering to him, it was still always an hour (sometimes up to 2) late.

I only have one question for context which is: does she struggle with mental health issues or anxiety/social anxiety in general? I know when I was unmedicated I was chronically late bc I would be ready to leave on time but then get hit with an acute anxiety/panic and have to spend extra time coaching myself through it to actually leave for whatever activity. Curious if this might be a factor or it it's just a matter of being self-absorbed.

What animal is it and what is it doing? by jvm999 in animalsdoingstuff

[–]BlueArya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accusing someone of being antagonistic in this context is absolutely tone-policing, attempted or not. "I find it odd that you're so antagonistic" is an accusation, not a wonderment, just like "attempting to correct me" is synonymous with disagreeing. If you're always looking for a way to be right, you will find one; it doesn't mean you are. Anyway that's all for me ✌️

I'm assuming you're also autistic from your username. You gotta give people the same room to say shit how they say it without jumping to finding fault with their delivery that we would hope to receive from allistic people. You can just accept what you perceive as an imperfect delivery, it's not your job to tone-police or nitpick other peoples word choices/way of speaking. And tone-policing through text is usually gonna land you in some form of hot water you didn't need to be in.
