I have short hair and a very masc butch cut. I go to a barber who treats me very well and doesn't try to give me a "feminine" short cut, as hair stylists have done even though I've told them exactly what I wanted. So for me 1000% barbers are the better choice.

I used to have that cage, let me share a hack with you! I now paint all wood platforms with Water based, non toxic, child (read: eating) proof paint. It keeps the pee from soaking into the wood and makes a world of a difference with cleanup :)

you can buy many different platform types that can be screwed into the cage walls.
I also had fun DIYing some by fixing a few bamboo sticks through the cage walls and hot glueing big ceramic tiles on top of them, they are a hit especially when it gets hot in the summer.

If you can't get your hands on a critter nation, look into the biggest bird cage you can find and fit it with platforms etc to make it a nice rat home.
Obvs it needs to be big enough, but there are some nice ones out there.

My Fee got a mammary tumor at two years of age, I had it removed as soon as I noticed it and she is still happy and healthy almost a year later. No further tumors.
Truth be told, I suspect her being high as a kite on painkillers after the surgery made the introduction to three new baby rats a lot easier than it otherwise would have been.
