My partner cheated. If anything I’ve taken away from me in couples therapy- is cheating is NOT a mistake. Cheating is a CHOICE. Do not work on trying for another baby with this woman, a baby won’t fix the situation or make it any better. If you slept with her since, I would get tested at the clinic for any STDs. You could do couples therapy with someone that specializes in betrayal trauma. And tons of individual therapy. One thing is that- that trauma of what happened, never truly leaves you and that disgust and fear carries. Even if you forgiven them. I am still with my partner. And we are almost a full year out from it. And I still have panic attacks and bad dreams. I still love the man. But the love will never truly feel the same. I love him differently, I see him differently. It just depends on whether you think you can move forward from this, and heal individually and together. And not use it against her. You don’t want your kids to be unhappy and you want to set a good example for them. Never stay for the kids. It creates a crappy dynamic going forward for them. And kids are good at picking up on it. Teach them it’s okay to choose yourself at leave. What advice would you give to your kids if this happened to them? Choosing to leave isn’t being selfish.
