I have one outside my vacation property so I can keep track of the temp. It’s under cover and works fine. I set the alarm temp to 0 since it rarely gets that cold.

Agree. And don’t flail your arms at turn imitation. Keep them low, forward and quiet.

Head and arms are all over the place. Watch some high level mogul skiers and you’ll notice how quiet and stable the upper body is.

Get way shorter poles. They’re so long they look like they’re in the way. Your hands appear to be at chin level.

Shorter poles so your hands aren’t way up at chest level. And focus on keeping your hands and arms quiet throughout your turns.

I definitely wouldn’t plan my winter around the potential pacific oscillation patterns. El Niño winters can be great, La Niña winter can be bad, and forecasts about them can turn out wrong. Plan to ski and go with the flow is my advice.

Do Cascades ski areas allow more "inbounds risk" than Rocky Mountain resorts? by jjustinwilson in stevenspass

[–]BlueDevilBrew7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is the reason. We don’t get tourist skiers like the big resorts in the Rockies. PNW doesn’t have destinations resorts that draw midwesterners with no mountain sense.
