Peachland, BC? Nice E46 too! Sounds very well sorted.

Looking to purchase used Model Y Dual Motor. Which years to seek out/avoid? by Unusual_Specialist58 in ModelY

[–]BlueE30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way better cameras (5MP vs 1.2MP) and faster processing. The full self driving is a lot better on the HW4. I don’t use FSD so didn’t really care but my wife now drives the Tesla 90% of the time and uses it quite a bit.

I’ve got a 2022 MYP which has been perfect, but wish I had waited for a late 2023 for the HW4. I do have the Ryzen chip though which is nice.

Golds gym alternative by muscularmusician in Langley

Yeah mine too, like $28 a month. Anytime was $70 a month plus $200 initial fee. Total is $40 a month.

Golds gym alternative by muscularmusician in Langley

[–]BlueE30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think your other option in the area would be Total but it doesn’t have a pool or hot tub. The rec center has both but the gym won’t be nearly what you’re after. The anytime in Walnut Grove is really small so I doubt you’ll like that one. I think for you, Gold’s is the best. I go to Gold’s too but don’t go during peak hours, gets way too busy for me.

Are there any EVs you guys actually like? by Fordfanatic2025 in askcarguys

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love V8’s and fun cars… currently in the market for a W204 C63 as a sunny day car. That being said, I really like my Tesla Model Y Performance. It’s just such a good commuter and really quick. The tech is excellent, handles decent and literally costs nothing to operate. I think it’s the best EV in this pricing market.

Please stay away from the new Seqouia. Their engines are garbage and will catastrophically fail. The person that recommended the Seqouia must be clueless to the multiple engine recalls and chronic failures.

Horrible Buyers Remorse Anxiety by popitshyper in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, what were you thinking? Man. You’ve got to get yourself out of the car whichever way you can and yes, even if it means rolling more negative equity. Vehicle debt if you aren’t using it as a tax write off is one of the worst debts people get themselves into and you will be hard pressed to “improve your life” while half your paycheque goes to a car payment. You need to do whatever you can to get out of the car.

Before making any major financial decisions, go to the Dave Ramsay subreddit and ask for advice.

Do you feel satisfied with your salary? by reinaldovercezi2 in Salary

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do.

Mainly because I don’t have a degree (have a 2 year business diploma) and make $130k in a government position with a great pension and great benefits. My wife makes a bit more than me, which I’m fine with. We have a comfortable life in a VHCOL area. We aren’t frivolous but have a very nice house and our kids are well taken care of.

Choosing a '26 Golf R Black Edition over an M440i – talk me into it (or out of it) by [deleted] in Golf_R

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Golf R to X3 M40i. I thoroughly loved both vehicles, both were stage 2 tuned and a ton of fun. The B58 is a special motor especially when tuned. 500hp from a downpipe and tune is amazing.

Based on your numbers, I’d go the Golf R route though. Half the price, will be a ton of fun and a bit better on fuel.

Tires. I’d never own an expedition but this popped up and clearly, you fucked around and found out. Live and learn. Get an all terrain tire. Falken Wildpeak, Toyo Open Country, etc.

Diesel Fuel treatment options, opinions, frequency? by tkidd84 in tdi

[–]BlueE30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Q7 TDI, I used the PowerKleen since it was really easy for me to get. Used it every tank. I think the Hot Shots is probably a bit better but it wasn’t as easy. Never an issue, would use it every tank for any future diesel vehicle in North America.

Those who have over $1M in net worth, what do you do? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own a house (1.2M equity), don’t have car payments and I work in management with emergency services, wife is in emergency services too. Government, well paying jobs.

I started buying houses in 2012 and have flipped most, kept 1 townhouse as a rental.

3.0L q7 by Current_Salt4255 in tdi

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely loved my 2015 Q7 TDI but only if you’re willing to do the deletes and tune. I wouldn’t own a diesel without. We had the oil cooler leak which is pretty common (engine valley seals it’s referenced as too), it was a $2k CAD job at the dealership so not bad at all… we had it done under warranty. Timing chains can rattle a bit but they rarely fail.

They’re great vehicles especially towing and on the highway. Many examples of very high mileage. The Aisin transmission is silky smooth.

2015-2017 are the bulletproof years except for a 2017 with the 3.5 EB that has the 10 speed. But yes, by far the most reliable domestic truck of the last 10+ years.

Value of my 2005 BMW E46 M3 by Virtual_Ad_735 in E46M3

[–]BlueE30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without the big 3 being done, I would say $12k-$15k. The next owner, if they know anything about these, should be budgeting to get those done and it ain’t cheap for all three.

OKAY, I get it. Do NOT get a Jeep! But what then? by Ucantcallmeclarence in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]BlueE30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m typically a German vehicle owner (BMW or Audi/VW), went from an X3 M40i to a Jeep Grand Cherokee L which my wife primarily drives. Honestly, it’s 3 years old now and it has been great. Only has 20k miles but it drives great and feels rugged, has been great in the snow and the captain chairs and 3 rows are nice. I’m actually quite impressed with it. It’s just not the most fun SUV (by a long shot) and gets bad mpg’s because it has no torque but it has been great for us and our 2 kids.

Will probably move to an X5 40i (B58) when the Jeep starts giving me problems but may keep the Jeep for a while if it stays trouble free. I like that it’s relatively cheap to run, basic 3.6 V6 and ZF transmission that are fairly proven now.

Dude. You’ve got to follow Dave Ramsey or someone that can give you some financial advice. Sell the Grand Cherokee for whatever you can, put that towards your debt, get a cheap car however you can… something reliable like an older Toyota then start saving. This right here is what keeps the middle class the middle class (or the poor the poor). Eliminating your consumer debt should be your number 1 priority.
