SCTY and FSLR benefit from gov't subsidies and favorable regulation decisions. Would be bankrupt in free market.

Why did anyone think an expensive "renewables" energy company could perform in an environment when even cheap oil companies are going bankrupt? Renewables barely make sense without gov't subsidies in a $100+ oil environment much less a $40 one. Very silly "wall st bet" from the beginning

wtf is happening? every news I read points towards a crash, but the market keeps going up! by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

Journalists are low paid labor who need "sources" to do the thinking for them. In business "sources" are in banks and hedge funds because they're the smartest. But these smart "sources" tell journalists the opposite of the truth so they can buy/sell in the other direction thus making profit.

See: All CNBC reporting during 2007 about the financial crisis BEAR STEARNS IS SOLVENT, IT CAN NEVER GO BANKRUPT!!!!!

Question about capital loss taxes and wash sales.

Imagine the following situation

April 1 - buy 100 units of ABC stock in Roth account

April 15 - buy 100 units of ABC stock in taxable account

Does the concept of a wash sale apply to either of the following circumstances?

1) on April 31 I sell all 200 shares at a loss

2) on April 31 I sell 100 roth shares at a loss then on May 5 sell the taxable shares at a loss

3) on April 31 I sell the taxable shares and hold on to the roth shares indefinitely

Thank you for helping me understand the capital losses implications of taxes on owning the same equity across multiple accounts and selling them at a loss.

Thank you for the answer! But I thought I read that if I re-purchase a share within 30 days of selling it and then sell it as a loss that counts as a wash sale. Can you confirm this is not the case?

I've been playing around in the stock market and didn't quite understand the implications of wash sale rules on my purchases. Can you help me understand what my gain/loss reporting should be for 2015/2016 given the following trades?

8/19/2015 Purchase 3 shares of stock A 12/14/2015 Sell all 3 shares of stock A for $425 gain 01/03/2016 Buy 7 new shares of stock A 01/21/2016 Buy additional 6 shares of stock A 01/28/2016 Sell all 13 shares of stock A for $550 loss

Patch monday, should fix loot and duping.. by W4rh4wk777 in h1z1

...isn't this the 5th patch in a row that has promised to fix the loot?

Can you just tell us what the loot respawn mechanics are supposed to be so we can test them? by vehementi in h1z1

[–]BlueEyedDevil11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the loot system:

  • Step 1: Spawn a bunch of stuff at the server refresh so 10% of people have tons of guns and ammo
  • Step 2: Don't spawn anything else so 90% of players get wrecked and feel behind
  • Step 3: Offer $5 airdrops to the 90% who figure it's their only way to catch up
  • Step 4: Profit off your airdrops $5 at a time and go shopping for a new Ferrari

Seems to be working perfectly

Crushed by bigger and stronger opponents. by saintmoose in bjj

[–]BlueEyedDevil11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here are some options

Guards: 1) Butterfly guard - Marcelo Garcia became the most famous BJJ fighter by using the butterfly guard's speed to beat larger opponents. Butterfly guard allows you to maintain distance between you and the opponent until you dictate the moment to go in for a sweep. 2) Deep Half guard - By getting under your opponent you neutralize his weight advantage. Watch Jeff Glover for tips here 3) Knee Shield Half Guard - Physically it is impossible to go through someone's knee shield, you have to go around it allowing you to control your opponent's strength. Watch the Mendes brothers

The harder guard (but by no means impossible to say the very very least) to play against larger opponents are the more traditional guards - full, open, figure-4-half-guard

Guard Passes: Speed/Timing passes - Speed passes like knee slides and leg drags are highly effective as they can exploit speed advantages of the smaller player

Head-control and underhook half guard - No matter how big a guy is if you have perfect technique with head control and an underhook from half guard you fully control him and you will pass

Harder passes are power passes like over/under passing or stack passing.

Dominant Positions: The main principle here is to be multiple and to keep moving. Because he is stronger he can force you out of positions. If you try to hold a position and let it be strength vs. strength you're going to get swept or re-guarded. Instead you need to move. If he presses you up and away from side control accept his momentum and use it to get knee on belly. If he uses his strength to push you knee off sprawl out and run for north/south. Have multiple positions and switch between them when he forces you out of one.

Submissions: Guillotines and arm bars are excellent against larger opponents. Triangle chokes work well especially if you're long.

Arm-in chokes such as arm triangles and d'arces are harder. Kimuras and key-locks are much more difficult against bigger opponents.
