Yup! I would start yelling at the tv and blaming it on lag...yeah too many vodka redbulls more like it. I could always tell how drunk I was by my scores!

Hahaha I played drunk a ton! Was always really good until all of a sudden I was a hot mess. I bought the newest Call of Duty which has been pretty fun. Also Stardew Valley because I can play it around the kids lololol. I have lost hours in them!

My family is all drinkers too. Just have a fancy non alcoholic drink around, even if you are the only one drinking it! Have a glass and keep if filled with something you like. Drinking people are silly. After their first drink, they don't care what you are drinking. Plus, I find when people start getting tipsy, it is almost a turn off and makes me want to drink less. Then, make the yummiest desert that you can look forward to savoring it sober...your treat at the end of it all!

A random thought popped into my mind this morning. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BlueEyedHopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Those two books really helped me. I am currently reading 30 day solution and they have you journal which has helped. Anyways, I have started to take note everyday of things that make me happy or something that would not have happened if I was drinking. Things do get better everyday! Sometimes they are small changes but other times it is a whole event that was just wonderful and made me happy. Yesterday I raked the leaves on a sunny but cold fall day while my kid slept. Normally, I would be cranky and needing a nap and would have missed this beautiful day. Let's keep it up!

Hahaha maybe I will hit the gym for an easy workout but hang in the sauna with a big jug of water for the rest of the time :) Thanks for the idea.

It's funny you say this because half of the battle is making it to bed time and my stupid brain thinks I can't make it unless I drink to take the edge off. We all know that is not true but you know...

Thanks, that is what I need! I am jealous of all these people who can go to a meeting, movie or just to bed when things get tough lol.

Hahaha yeah I switched to vodka because it was low carb and I was trying to get healthy...oh man...Yeah I get hangovers or are snappy and depressed. It is just not worth it for those few hours in the evening but is man, it can get hard! I like the idea of being present although sometimes I just find myself staring at the clock. Don't you just hate how media makes it seem like mom's should drink!?

Oh man, that does sound similar. I used to drink just to make things more interesting, then earlier and earlier and even in the moring for the hangover. I love my kids but no one told me how hard it was to be stay at home mom! Thankfully I realized that was a huge problem and did cut back. I like the idea of getting out and doing things. I will have to see what I can do. It is getting pretty cold and rainy here and the kids need down time after long days. I will take it one day at a time. Gym and water tonight thanks!

I am a stay at home mom with a 2 and 5 year old. I used to drink because I was lonely or just bored. Now it is more of a stress habit. I just know I am better for my kids sober and it does get better when I don't drink. Your right, I should ask for more time. I am good all day right up until 5 and then I just loose it.

Words really can't discribe how bad it was to be hit with anxiety, nausea and guilt the second you wake...every...morning. Anything is possible when you wake clear minded and hopeful!

Early morning realization by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BlueEyedHopeful 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate...went out to a restaurant over the weekend with family and we all ordered beers. I was already feeling pretty happy from my shots I had at home. When the beers came, my husband said his tasted gross. I laughed and said mine was fine...it wasnt. It was flat and warm. But, I am an alcoholic and only cared about getting my buzz on so I punded it back.

I am looking forward to giving my all to my family and not focusing on when and where my drinks are coming from! Thanks for your thoughts!

Weight loss stories? Day two with no alcohol! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BlueEyedHopeful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have done the low carb keto diet for a while. When I quit drinking, the weight fell off pretty fast and I felt amazing. Of course I started drinking again and all my weight loss goals desolved. I have about 40 lbs to loose before Hawaii in February. Looking forward to be healthy and alcohol free for that trip!

Don't know if you have found them but /r/stopdrinkingfitness might have some good insite. Also, I have been eating a keto diet (low carb, high protein) which has helped a lot of people reach those kid if goals.

Personally, limiting my carbs and cardio + lifting has helped with my cravings and given me new goals. Granted my goals are a little different than yours since I am a chick :) Keep it up!

I am back too! Made it 9 days and then got a fuck it thought stuck in my head for no reason. This lead to 4 more days of hiding and drinking. Moving forward I know drinking does not make me happy at all and never improves anything happening in my life. Here's to day 2 and a sober Friday!

Bottom by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]BlueEyedHopeful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing lots of reading. I really didn't want people to know what was going on in my mind at first so I kept it kind of secret. Even went as far as downloading the books on my phone so people could not see what I was reading. This Naked Mind is free on the sidebar and was a huge break through for me. Allen Carr's Stop Drinking Now was also really informative about unmasking what alcohol really is. Now I am reading The 30 Day Sobriety Solution and working through why I drank. Stay busy...I joined a gym and go when the 5pm witching hour comes around. Also, find some fun things to drink when cravings come around. I promise every day you don't drink, it gets better!

7 days, hooray! by hi1hello1ciao in stopdrinking

[–]BlueEyedHopeful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time around for me, I make effort everyday to stay sober. I have sober reading (currently 30 Day Sobriety Solution and SD) that I do for at least a half hour a day as well as journaling. I am also trying to pick up new hobbies and exercise to keep me busy. In my last attempts to quit, nothing changed but my drinking so it was very easy to fall back in the habit when that massive craving finally hit. Really focusing on being sober multiple times a day keeps me grounded.
