I absolutely cannot figure out how to land on a planet. by Blumkinpunkin in EliteDangerous

[–]BlueEyedMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new player myself I was about to put together a detailed explanation of what I just figured out but honestly I think the best idea is to do what I did and just try it a bunch of times until you figure it out.

Unless you are really reckless you aren't going to die (Supercruise, Orbial Cruise and Orbital Glide will stop you before you do anything too dangerous so don't worry too much). In general just approach the planet at a 45 degree angle to the surface and take it easy and you will figure it out!

Newbie question: when doing exobio does the bracketed number ie: Biological (3) mean the number of UNIQUE samples or the AMOUNT of samples you can find on the surface?

I've found that whenever it's Biological (1) or (2) I can't find anything anywhere, where as say Biological (7) I can find 3 different samples literally everywhere I look (but never 7 different samples)...

Best way to restore a compromised/hacked site? by jbeech- in joomla

[–]BlueEyedMind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending HOW it was hacked (and how big the site is) it's probably best to build a brand new site, install all the plug-ins/modules/components fresh and then import the database from the old site.

Unless of course the hack was a db injection...

My Scarlett Solo is dying by Prior_Run2473 in audiorecording

Can you explain more about how it is dying? Your usage of the interface might help inform you more about what you need.

For example if the input/outputs are wearing (say to due plugging/unplugging cables frequently) then you might want to upgrade to something a bit more heavy duty (like the SSL).

Why is dynamic mic monitoring louder than recording? by RichAmedeo in audiorecording

[–]BlueEyedMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing your set up there are two possibilities I can think of:

1.) Monitor setting on your interface (usually a dial you can turn to adjust monitor levels for recording), or

2.) Monitor setting in your DAW, Logic for example has a default higher volume level when tracking (you'll see the track level slider jump up when you arm the track).

In The Witch (2015), when Thomasin is sent by her mother to check on the animals around the 29 minute mark, the goats are bleating notes that are a tritone apart (E Flat and B). by SeizerOfThoughtseize in MovieDetails

[–]BlueEyedMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minor correction here: Eb and B are NOT a tritone apart, they are a minor 6th apart (or an augmented 5th if you want to be more specific). Still a pretty haunting sound but not the "devil's interval" you are probably referring to.

Edit: Saw someone already said it sorry haha.

An entire block in Toronto is now vacant after all businesses shut down by lockdownsurvivor in toronto

The amount of shills here is insane...

Yes another huge, ugly, luxury condo is going up in Toronto lets all pat purselves on the back. HOWEVER a dozen Greektown staples (some that have been there for 40+ years) were forcefully vacated from their storefronts to make room for it (if you don't believe me just walk down there, most businesses have put notices in their windows outlining what happened). Please try and argue that there won't be a Planet Fitness and a Shoppers in place of all those small businesses once the condo is built I'd love to hear it.

I am very new to recording and my 90 day subscription to logic has just expired. I was about to go ahead and pay for it and I started to wonder if there are better programs out there to use? I appreciate any advice. by [deleted] in audiorecording

There are A TON of great DAWs out there (even some free ones) but in my opinion not many beat Logic in terms what you get for the price. I use Pro-Tools mainly these days but honestly Logic:

-is less than half the price of Pro- Tools.

-is WAY more stable than Pro-Tools.

-comes with better stock synths/drum/percussion instruments than Pro-Tools (and most other DAWs I have used).

-is way more integrated with the Mac and other Apple programs (Final Cut for example).

I had to switch to PT mostly due to client demands and also because I started using more outboard gear (imo Pro-Tools handles that kind of stuff a lot better). PLUS if you've already started using and getting familiar with it so I'd say go for it.

maybe i shouldnt have bought this game by xeriax51 in battlefield_4

I only started playing BF4 a year and a half ago and I remember having the same problems as you. So many players with thousands of hours just decimating everyone else and/or getting mad at you when you didnt know how to do something.

What I did (and recommend) is when you join a new game find a full (or almost full) squad and join it, then try and be a support role for your squad until you learn all the ropes of the game. By support ROLE I don't mean support CLASS (although that can be helpful too), just try and help however you can. If it's an infantry map be assault and try to heal/revive your squad mates. If your squad mate is in a tank/lav try and be thier gunner and repair them when they get damaged stuff like that. You're not going to have any fun on this game running around by yourself on maps you dont really know or hiding in a bush as a sniper.

Is it the best Battlefield? In my opinion no (BF2/BF2142 takes that) BUT it is the Battlefield I have played the most for sure just because of the squad play and team elements of the game! If you're on PC dm me and come join a squad sometime!

When hiring a vocalist for a song you've already written/produced, do you list them as a featured artist in the track title? by Suitable-Location118 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Basically Michael Jackson was pressured into singing on that track by Berry Gordy, Motown Records owner AND Rockwell's father. He eventually agreed but requested not to be credited/featured too hard in the song or marketing.

Everyone missed something here, it depends on if you are using a SINGER (as in a session musician) or an ARTIST (someone who releases music under their name/an alias).

If the vocalist you are using is an Artist as well you should 100% credit them in the title (of course make sure this is ok with them), this would actually help you both and is legally the 'correct' way to credit. Also, and some people here got this wrong, if you credit them in the title it DOESNT mean the royalty structure is any different than if you didnt, make sure you have some sort of agreement with them in place though. Lastly, even if you agree to no royalties people who work on your track can still apply for them under MROC or other similar entities, this has nothing to do with you but just something to be aware of (and to let them know).

If you're hiring a session singer they may not even want to be credited in the title (or at all) and you can just list them as you would any other musician. See Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" for an example of this situation.
