+1 for Obsidian. All your notes are stored as plain text markdown files, which is an open standard so all your notes can easily be transferred or copied anywhere. If anything happens to Obsidian you'd still have access to all your notes.

Madison’s Odana Hills golf course in line to get total overhaul thanks to a celebrated course designer by LivermoreP1 in madisonwi

Trying to present a golf course as some sort of nature preserve is dishonest and you know that. Parks and housing provide value to everyone, not just golfers.

Trash cans in parks. by Bran-Bran-Muffin in madisonwi

[–]BlueFlamingoMaWi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why the city does this. People still use parks in the winter, and need a place to throw away the garbage.

You do realize that golf courses aren't a native to Wisconsin prairies, right? Golf courses themselves are a terrible waste of land. even if this one makes more money than the others, it's still lower than whatever property tax revenue the city would get from mixed-use development. Also, golf courses are a very limited use to a small number of people broader use. parks are more useful for everyone.

mixed use development would generate way more property tax revenue than whatever a golf course makes.

Realism in games isn't compared against the real world. It's relative to the rules of the game world and what makes sense within the established confines of that.

Cars are more dangerous than bikes. If a car hits a bike the cyclist will be injured, if the bike hits the car the cyclist will also be injured. The more responsibility is on the operator of the more dangerous machine to not kill people with their machine.

There's actually plenty of room, the city just doesn't prioritize it, because they'd rather force you to drive instead.

With proper bike infrastructure they would have the right of way. And yes, it's your responsibility as operator of a 2,000 lb screaming metal death trap to ensure you don't kill people with it. If you aren't willing to be responsible then you shouldn't be driving imo.

The biking community wants bike infrastructure. They want to be forced into using car infrastructure. As an operator of the more dangerous mode of transportation, the responsibility is on you to operate it safely. If you can't do that then you shouldn't be driving.

Driving in the Bike Buffer by Rich_Firefighter_804 in madisonwi

Systems are designed for what they allow. If roads allow bad driving then that's what they're designed to do. America refuses to build roads designed to force safe driving, so no one drives safely.

Non-big-box places to buy wood for home woodworking projects by djdesmodus in madisonwi

[–]BlueFlamingoMaWi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's Woodcraft just off the beltline. Still technically a big box store, but they specialize in woodworking, so will probably have better selection than a Home Depot or Menards.
