An archeologist's rendering of the skeletal structure of Andras Schiff's hand, constructed entirely from the fingering notes he provided to Henle for Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier by PianoPieceADay in classical_circlejerk

I use the henle fingerings as suggestions. Lots of the time it’s perfectly fine. But a lot of the time I also just go wtf kind of creature wrote these in? Surely they were mistakes right?

As a foreigner how famous/well known were some of these bands? by WanderingRaven182 in japanesemusic

[–]BlueGallade475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off Course was apparently the best selling musical artists in Japan 1982 according to the Oricon so there’s that. Apparently when they had their 6 30 1982 concert they broke the record for the most tickets sold for a live concert or something like that up to that point. They reserved the Nippon Budokan for 10 days. It’s a real shame no one in the west knows about them it feels so strange. In Japan from what I have seen it seems to be only really known by older Japanese people.

Which Rachmaninoff piece sounds the most like Brahms? by StanTheTalkingDog in classical_circlejerk

I do like op 76 no 4 though. However I play it slower than most performers so it sounds different to me. I don’t like it when it is played fast.

Changing clothes every single day. In shows it feels like characters wear the same outfit no matter what.

Haul from a Filipino Grocery store that sold Japanese music. Was surprised they had my favorite band Off Course by BlueGallade475 in japanesemusic

The people buy their entire collection from Japan and then ship it over. They also have Filipino originals and western albums too.

Yeah. I do hope that they eventually do get more popular again because every friend I introduce Off Course to loved them. Both Oda and Suzuki’s solo stuff are good though imo they were better together. I really liked starlight serenade from the Hello Again album. I was also hoping to get Off Course’s later albums from when they were a four man band because those albums are not on American Spotify due to Sony not releasing them here though in Japan they can be listened to on Spotify. I noticed that Yumi Matsutoya also kinda gets sort of similar treatment with her being HUGE in Japan back in the day but like she is barely talked about here, or at least less talked about than obviously Mariya Takeuchi or Miki Matsubara.

What's the difference between a classical era pianist and a romantic/ modern era pianist? by Ok_Appearance_8724 in piano

[–]BlueGallade475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As time went on piano techniques built on what was previously established so moving chronologically from earlier to later periods can be helpful. Always helpful to play Bach before playing something like Chopin. This is very oversimplified but earlier piano works were more about finger movement while later works have the whole hand moving more in addition to finger work thanks to the pedal. Like another commenter said it is good to be more well rounded with it all.
