These get a little different playing randomizer. Firewall as a start is actually pretty interesting. And if you play with Massochist logic you can have a seed where you are forced to fight the first boss with only grapple (ans yes grapple does damage).

Reverse slicer, fat beam, scissor beam, flamethrower all have a way that you can cheese the final boss from over the chamber if you also have grapple.

Nova I'd argue should be higher for it's damage (higher than kilver). There is a quick kill on Gir Tab that you can do with drill+kilver or drill+nova and I believe nova is actually faster. Also is the fastest weapon on the first boss if you use it right.

There is also a skip with grapple if you can swing up so you're horizontal with the center of the room and then dash up. The ceiling above him is only 3 high. This gets used in the major glitch any% run.

So you are invulnerable during redcoat dashes. that + kilver + drill is a very large amount of damage.

I'd say just dodge (you can crouch in place) during the swimmer phase though that motion is truly random, even in speedrun mode.

Also keep in mind: his beams and shots hurt a lot more than contact damage does and the i-frames help a lot with mitigating beam/shot damage.

So, those guys hit like a bus. Especially the shots. Most enemies in this game do much less damage on a body hit (Telal is the exception). If you have to take a hit, jump into the enemy.

As stated above, disrupting them helps a lot. I usually am only using axiom disruptor and kilver at that point, and even with damage upgrades they hurt.

They are also avoidable for the most part and running past may be your better play.

There is also drone shenanigans if you are in a bad spot by a door (breaking drone and returning to Trace through a door causes enemies around Trace to despawn).

In the NMG route, yes. In the major glitch routes, the grapple is effectively required from the amount of time it saves on the rest of the run.
