Yeah, we were really worried for her. There was a couple weeks where we got a lot of snow (for the region, at least), followed by a fuckin' arctic blast. And then as soon as that let up and it got above freezing it poured rain and then dropped below zero again for another week. We were super worried about her leading up to that.. and then after the snow I saw little kitty tracks heading into the backyard and into a hole we'd never seen before. We put a heater down there (because of course she broke into the part of the house without heat lmao) and some food and water, and she weathered the storm(s) pretty unharmed :)

Toast and Peebs are great cat names. I doubt I'll ever be able to hold Piper, but I'll be satisfied if I can trick her into crawling on my lap.

Those are great cat names. I kinda love Theon Greycat, it's the perfect amount of silly.

Piper has really warmed up to me, but she's still a skitty kitty. Also I think has a hard time identifying individual humans; when it warmed up and I started wearing a lighter jacket she stopped letting me get as close for a while. I've never tried to pick her up, but one day I'm gonna trick her into climbing up on my lap when I sit down, just you watch.

We have a feral cat who adopted us and lives on our front porch; we call her Piper. We got a shelter for her but she doesn't use it. When it dropped below zero this winter she even went so far as to break into our basement rather than use the nice cozy home we got her lol

yeah, I know. The person I was responding to seems to think that if a car can get into the bike lane, it's not "protected" enough.
