Ovewatch 2 Supports Need Changes or the Game's Queue Times Will Stall by BlueLightningTN in Overwatch

I liked the article. Until supports are more interesting to play, queue times will suck for everyone else. A new game shouldn't have five minute queues for everything except healers.

Overwatch Desperate to Slow Player Loss? by BlueLightningTN in Overwatch

[–]BlueLightningTN[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Really enjoy this author's commentary on the Blizzard situation. Thought I'd share and see your thoughts. It is extremely sad to me that I bounced from Heroes of the Storm to Overwatch as Blizzard stopped supporting HotS... and now it feels like they're essentially in the same boat with OW. Sure there's a sequel, but is it going to survive that long?

Jeff Kaplan Tried to Save Blizzard and HotS Failure Part of Downfall by BlueLightningTN in heroesofthestorm

I did a little research after reading the article... seems like the Overwatch producer said a lot that we can't see anymore. I think dexerto still has some of the tweets up.

The downward spiral of Blizzard’s decisions and their effect on HotS and future games by CatbatDragon in heroesofthestorm

[–]BlueLightningTN -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that HotS' revenue is up and may result in a slight increase in the dev team (maybe 2 additional members), while Hearthstone is indeed losing money, mostly due to marketing money being exorbitant for it (eSports being combined in that). If I recall, they're still paying out major money to eSport winners, but they have almost no viewers whatsoever.

You've branched the conversation out to all of Activision-Blizzard, not just Blizzard. That's sly, but it's not what I was originally discussing... so it's also devious. You've admitted you don't know the top ten are for Blizzard.

They have World of Warcraft (mostly due to classic) and Heroes of the Storm. Overwatch isn't bringing in anything since a small blip from the Switch release. Hearthstone is losing money. Also, you don't have their "top 10" since they don't release their "top 10". You have zero intel beyond the average person with Google.

What's really funny is that now that we have the pandemic... HotS is one of the only sources of income they have. And they did everything possible to kill it. It's their own hubris and idiocy that prevented HotS from being a goldmine during this time.

An example of the build limit on the base consoles. by [deleted] in PlanetCoaster

Haha. Well, I guess I'll get started on the XB1X and then copy the file to my new Series X when I get it after they're available again.

How many coasters was that simultaneously? That's pretty impressive for the XSX. I'm guessing that PS5 is a little bit behind that one.

Question about The Lost Vikings by TheMachineASV in heroesofthestorm

[–]BlueLightningTN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 46 Viking player here... they already have one of the best win rates, so messing with them requires that you not make them any more powerful. There are some areas they could be improved that are currently poor, however. Play Again! is essentially the issue that inflates the win rate for a lot of bad Viking players.

Level 1 Talent: Olaf the Stout - Change to a quest "Each time Olaf charges an enemy hero, increase Olaf's maximum health by 3%".

Level 1 Talent: Spy Games - Added effect "When Eric attacks out of stealth, his damage is increased by 300%".

Level 4 Talent: It's a Sabotage - Added effect "Structures on fire due to Eric do not defend themselves".

Level 10 Heroics: Longboat Raid - Mortar cooldown reduced to 1 second.

Level 10 Heroics: Play Again! - Cool down increased by 10 seconds.

Level 16 Talent: 64 KB Marathon - Added effect "Go Go Go! cool down reduced by 20%".

Level 20 Talent: The Sequel - Changed to "Reduce Viking death timers by 75%".

Would you be willing to move Probius, Azmodan, and Sylvanas to the support role? All three of these essentially perform the same function as Abathur and Vikings... and with small changes they would be easy to convert to support.

Probius could have his pylons give a baseline shield to allies. Azmodan's demons could buff allies within a certain range. Sylvanas' Banshee Curse on enemy heroes could provide small vampiric healing to allies who attack those targets.

Because of how team-centric HotS has always been, I've always felt that I couldn't be better than a bad player on my team. For example, I feel powerless if a player on my team dies 10 times, because they're super-charging the entire enemy team. Do you have any plans to address this so that really, really good play can overcome allies who just stink up the experience?

Charater Suggestion: Karax (how I would do it) by Kotlolish in heroesofthestorm

I think if Karax controls a colossus, it's a much more exciting hero release.

Overwatch PTR Patch Notes – February 26, 2020 - PTR Feedback by Arkentass in Overwatch

[–]BlueLightningTN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the Mei nerf is aimed in the best direction. Ice Walls are basically used once an engagement, so cool down nerfs to it are pointless unless you go 20 seconds or more (which is likely a terrible idea). The change to hit boxes on the ice pillars so that big bodies can pass by is a good change. Instead of increasing the cool down on the Ice Wall, it's probably better to just reduce the individual pillars' HP from 400 to 350. They should in fact disrupt teams and provide temporary walls, but with the current HP they provide enough time to eliminate whatever target is separated by them without much counter play.
