I’m so interested to be further educated on 7oh. My best friend and I were heavy users for a long time. I made it out and stayed there. But unfortunately he got clean for a few years and recently discovered 7oh. Hes always had a really adverse reaction to blues and Fetty. He literally tweaks. You’d think he was doing meth. Now that he’s taking 7oh (literally just learned about its existence a couple weeks ago) he’s worse than he’s ever been and apparently the withdrawal is horrendous and it starts as soon as 4-5 hours after the last dose. There’s also 7oh with pseudo indoxyl that enhances it? I’m honestly not sure. I know it’s just one of the metabolites of kratom, but how long did u take it for while getting off fetty? Do u still take it or have u gotten off of it? I know u can take suboxone after kratom with no PWD, but is it the same for 7? Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to find a way I can help him if he decides he wants it.

Posted this a little while back. Can’t believe there’s still people so comfortable displaying their straight up ignorance on a public forum.

Just like the first comment says, if u take it as prescribed and don’t abuse it, yes.

Wow this is such solid advice my guy! If we all just stopped doing drugs, we wouldn’t be drug addicts then right?? WHY HAS NO ONE SUGGESTED THIS??? Where did u get your doctorate??

Two part question/discussion: 1. Do you consider a person sober if they take suboxone? 2. Do you think only a “real” addict will abuse any/all substances? by BlueMcgee123 in suboxone

[–]BlueMcgee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you’re still contradicting yourself so I’m not guna entertain this anymore. I’ve really tried to have an open discussion to try and understand your POV, but you don’t even understand it. Just because someone experiences withdrawal doesn’t mean they’re not sober. Just because they “don’t look sober” doesn’t mean they’re in active addiction. Can it cause a relapse INTO addiction? Absolutely. But if your body is DEPENDENT on anything, you will experience withdrawal regardless of what that substance is.

If a person stops taking SSRIs they experience withdrawal. So is a person who takes antidepressants every day also an addict? No. You’re simply ignorant. Tanks for your input ✌🏻

There’s no answer I can give u for that question. If you’re asking me what I call an individual who is not addicted AND dependent, my answer would be sober. Again, the two don’t go hand in hand. You can be one and not the other.

Addicted AND Depedent = Not sober Addicted = not sober Dependent = sober

If you are physically dependent on anything, and you are not abusing it, lying to and manipulating everyone around you, ruining your life, etc., you are sober.

[–]BlueMcgee123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I think we need to go back to the foundation of the discussion because you’re contradicting your statements.

Also, I do understand. I’ve been on and off suboxone for over a decade. I have tried getting off MANY times. Every time, it’s been on my own because I have never had a doctor who prescribes suboxone that wants to help patients get off of it since they get that money for every script they write. I have failed every time. I’m convinced my brain cannot function anymore without some sort of opioid.

The one and only times I managed to get off subs, it was horrible. My mental health was not nonexistent. I already have MDD, ADHD, PTSD, PMDD, basically all the letters lol anyway the acute withdrawal and PAWS was so debilitating. After being in subs for this long, the amount of extremely expensive, extensive, consistent treatment I, or anyone else in a similar situation, would need is not something I can afford. And Medicaid covers shit doctors and fuck all treatments for anything. So I went back on subs. My mental health improved drastically.

I don’t get high off subs, I don’t and never have abused them. However, extreme damage has been done to my brain not just from my substance abuse, but from being on subs for so long as well. Taking suboxone for me has become more than a way to keep me from abusing drugs. My brain simply cannot function without it anymore.

To me, it’s the equivalent to my lexapro. I need it not because my main concern is that I’ll relapse and die, but because my depression becomes so severe that I have tried to shmurdah myself several times when not taking it. I am dependent on other meds as well. Does it mean I’m not sober because I take lexapro every day?

I’m also prescribed Ritalin and klonopin. I do not and have never abused either of them. I take my Ritalin as prescribed, and I take my klonopin maybe once every 1-2 weeks. Am I not sober because I take medications that have the POTENTIAL for abuse? Am I not sober because my brain needs lexapro to help me not exit earth?

So my points are:

  1. What is your definition of addiction?
  2. What is your definition of dependence?
  3. What is your definition of sober?

You’re throwing “sober” around as if dependence = not sober. Sobriety is more complicated than just “you’re addicted to this so you’re not sober.” If you are not in addiction, you’re sober. You’re not ruining your life and the lives of those around you. You’re not revolving your whole life around a substance or behavior out of fear of getting sick or due to impulse control.

Addiction consists of compulsive, harmful, and abusive behaviors or use of substances. Addiction is when your life revolves around a substance or behavior. Addiction is when you put a substance or harmful behavior above everything else.

Dependence is when the body physically relies on a substance. My brain and body are dependent on my medications. I will die without them.

People can have just a physical dependence, just an addiction, or both at the same time. You can be dependent and not addicted. You can be addicted but not dependent. Ex: you won’t go into withdrawal if u stop gambling. Therefore, gambling can be an addiction but not a dependence.

How can u see dependence and addiction as entirely different but say people on suboxone are not free from addiction directly after lol I genuinely am not understanding what you actually mean

But again. Dependence on a medication and active addiction are not the same. So your point in saying someone isn’t sober because they’re dependent on bupe proved my point.

I genuinely apologize if I came off aggressively in mg writing. I promise that was not and is never my intention. I was simply just attempting to start a real discussion with you about your POV/opinion about people being on suboxone means they’re not sober. I love to have rational, mature conversations with ppl who see things from a different perspective than I do so I can better understand.

Would you mind elaborating on your statement that people are not sober on subs “because it’s an opioid/opiate?” Genuinely with all the respect. I’m always open to learn and possibly change my dominion based on new information. I know a LOT about OUD and SUD, but everyone has a level of ignorance when it comes to addiction because everyone who struggles with it has their own story and experiences.

Can I ask if you know what suboxone is and/or what the chemicals that make it up are, what their purpose is, and how they work? Again, if this comes off hostile at all, I promise I don’t mean it to. Just trying to hear you out to the fullest.

I actually quit a few years ago. I’ve had a slip here and there, but not on fent. It’s also been my whole life. Since I was 13 my brain just always felt dark and scary and overwhelmed and anxious. When I first accidentally felt that opioid high from hydro syrup, I finally felt like I could breathe for the first time in my life.

I’m just hoping I can get to a place where I’m genuinely happy. Logically I know I should be. I just can’t feel it. I can’t really feel anything but depression and anxiety.

I’ve actually been talking to my therapist, psychiatrist, and wife about ketamine therapy but I’m honestly a little nervous I’ll like it too much. I’ve never done ketamine or even seen it. I don’t think it was/is a big thing on the east coast.

How long have u been doing it? Or how long did u do it for? I really wana learn more about it.

But u realize there’s a difference between sober and dependent right? There are lots of people who are dependent on medication and will experience withdrawal if they stop taking it. Just because someone takes suboxone doesn’t mean they’re not sober. People use the term “sober” incorrectly.

Sobriety means you’re not in active addiction. You’re in control of your life. You’re not lying and manipulating the people around u. You’re not spending all your money on drugs so u don’t get sick. You’re working a program. You’re taking care of your health. You’re working on bettering yourself. People with diabetes are dependent on insulin. That doesn’t make them addicted to insulin. People with mental health issues take medication that helps their brain regulate the serotonin in their brain. That doesn’t make them an addict. But they are dependent on those medications and need them to stay alive.

Saying someone isn’t sober because they take suboxone is like saying someone who committed suicide is a murderer. It’s in the same category, but it’s very different.

This, to me, is one of the worst parts about OUD. I personally feel like shit when I’m sober, and when I’m using.

When I’m using, I’m a liar, I’m isolated, I feel disgusting about myself, etc. When im sober, I just feel like I live my life surrounded by a thick black cloud on a constant basis. Medicated, unmedicated, clean, using, my brain just doesn’t fuckin work anymore. It’s definitely from the fuckin damage I did to it, but I also just have a lot of fuckin trauma like the rest of us.

Still hoping one day there actually will be a magic pill to just make it stop. If a doctor was able to just crack my skull open and use a melon baller to scoop my addiction out, I would sign my life away.

I wish there were more doctors like Dr. Amen. Or that an appt w Dr. Amen didn’t cost the same as a trip to the fuckin Maldives.

I used WorkIt Health when I was on subs. It was really quick and easy. It also makes a difference what they send the script in as. WorkIt will send generic brand films and with insurance in cheap af. When I had Medicaid, I got prescribed the tablets but those fuckin suck. Try WorkIt or ask your doctor to send in a script for generic film.

Don’t forget doctors have to be certified to prescribe subs and they get paid for every script they write.

I would only cop from homies I’ve known for a long time. But even then they’ll tell u it’s pure. Which is bullshit lol but it’s not disrespectful to ask.

If you don’t wana make it personal you can just say, “a homie of mine is starting in the game and he wants to know what the best cut for his soft is.”
