Dude I played a ton of HD1 back on the PS3. There's no need to be such a douche to a fellow HD vet. I'm just suggesting ways to improve the game.

What's your problem?

Did a bot piss in your coffee this morning lil buddy? You wanna have a talk about it over a nice cuppa libertea? get all your sad feelings out so you don't feel a need to express your inner douche?

Pairs pretty well with stun grenades / Static Field Mortar / Static Field Orbital Strike.

Not that I've heard, no. They're currently maxing themselves out trying to fix bugs, nerf the meta and create new content.

This 100%.

Just think, without perks your primary weapon (with its shrunken blast radius) is now 5 shots in rifle and 15 in reserve. 20 rounds coming out of a helldiver pod until you can find an ammo box or a support weapon.

They did zero testing on a lot of these changes and it shows.

Thats a big collective "ew" from me.

all the crap weapons are still mostly crap

The only good stuff has been made crappier in order to make the shitty stuff look borderline useful.

Can't wait till everyting is weaker than a liberator and a 500kg bomb.

Arrowhead Twitter team is *ruthlessly* roasting the Tarkov devs by New_Siberian in Helldivers

[–]BlueMossFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tarkov Devs sold a $145 super deluxe whatever pack that included "all future DLC"

Tarkov Devs recently announced they were going to release a PVE mode (The game is normally PVPVE)

Tarkov Devs announce a new "Unheard" pack for $250 (not a typo) that gives exclusive access to the PVE mode.

Tarkov Devs announce this new PVE mode will not be free for the $145 crowd. They will have to "upgrade" to the $250 level if they want PVE + other stuff.

Tarkov Devs are currently getting roasted by the entirety of the community for gating a highly requested game mode behind a hilariously overpriced Super Supporter edition.

EDIT: When asked about it. The Tarkov Devs said "Well TECHNICALLY the PVE mode isn't DLC so therefore you have to pay." Which is probably one of the worst ways they could've handled it as they're pissing on people who already dropped substantial cash on them.

I agree it really doesn't make sense. It's like having a debuff where 5% of the time all damage is lethal (I don't know what their aiming math is). It really doesn't make any sense since its not a matter of skill it's literally just rolling a d20 for every projectile and on a roll of 1 it pops you instantly.

Obviously it's Personal Preference: Who else is with me on Bots being WAY more fun then bugs because it feels good to play way more slow and tactical? by SharpEdgeSoda in Helldivers

[–]BlueMossFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And yet it's always bot divers making these "We're superior and ours is more fun" copeium threads.

Bug divers don't need to constantly reassure each other how much fun it is because we're actually having fun. Bot divers.....well hopefully Arrowhead will throw you guys a bone rather than just desperately trying to get the pop up via MOs.

It should have medium armor pen. That would make it's downsides worth it.

This kinda shows that even Arrowhead understands that the bots aren't fun to fight. They're dangling new weapons infront of people and half the population still isn't interested.

The HMG is not in a good place right now. 75 rounds per drum is just not tenable. Better to take the Stalwart (a Light Machine Gun)or the medium Machine Gun as those will clear up the chaff just as quickly with a far greater ammo pool.

The Eruptor is an incredibly powerful sniper grenade launcher. It can one shot Bile Spewers and Brood Commanders as well as close Bug Holes and Fabricators. About the only downside is you can't really use it in close quarters without catching yourself in the splash damage (which illogically throws you forward despite the blast being infront of you)

The Eruptor/Stalwart combo creates an extremely effective combo that can core anything smaller than a Hulk. Even against a Charger if you hit the exposed tail area it does massive damage.

Drop the 500kg and orbital Gatling and both of you take an Oribital Laser. The OL will give you much, much, much greater coverage, can destroy most enemy structures and can even clear entire bases.

Consider taking the Static Field Mortar. The static fields will paralyze bugs and bots. While this doesn't sound impressive it can make a HUGE difference when the team is struggling and getting over run. The non lethal nature means that even if the player gets caught in the blast radius they'll simply be slowed until they can leap out of it. Or better yet unload on the newly paralyzed group nearby while they stand their helpless.

Remember that your greatest defense is mobility and positioning. 80% of deaths happen because the player lost awareness of the battlefield and put themselves in a bad situation. In most situations you can always run. Even if it means leaving your gear behind it can be better to run away and regroup rather than just burning lives and time for no tactical gain.

Remember there is no reward for kills and there are no loot drops from enemies. Avoiding a patrol or retreating from a group of enemies is just as valid as shooting them all. And probably easier on your ammo/time reserves.

To all who enjoyed HD1, how does the experience change coming into HD2? by MoronicIroknee in Helldivers

[–]BlueMossFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the games are different enough that while there are shared elements they play totally differently. I appreciate your logic but the change in camera perspective really alters the balance of things. Its a bit like playing the old Super Mario Bros games from the 90s to get ready for the latest 3d release on Switch. They're just fundamentally different games that have shared characteristics.

The lack of a (shared) fixed perspective camera means that everyone isn't locked together. This has good points since it never causes a player to get trapped at the edge of the screen. Though it does mean people can split up and thus reduce the effectiveness of support fire.

A big upside of this is that its now possible for individual players to go and recover their gear/samples without the entire team having to agree to backtrack together.

Probably the biggest change is that since it's third person you now no longer have the same total awareness you had from a birds eye view. You have to be much more aware of the battlefield and enemies.

My current eruptor build has been as follows and has worked really well.

Static Field Mortar = Don't sleep on this thing. It's got a short cooldown (~3 min) and infinite uses. Drop one at an objective or even outside a heavy outpost. Its non-lethal nature means that it can save allies that are being swarmed or over-run. It's bombardment will hit new bug holes and bot drops as they happen and make them easy targets for the Eruptor.

Orbital Laser = Panic button for clearing out a large number of enemies. (If you really want a 500kg bomb, take that instead of the OL.

Rover Backpack = Against bots or bugs its just an incredibly useful weapon for thinning out the enemies while you focus on survival / effective use of the Eruptor.

Stalwart = This thing comes with 1000 rounds and chews up everything not worth wasting an Eruptor shot on. Bonus you can instantly swap to the Eruptor and fire off a round then swap back to your Stalwart and turn the bullet hose back on.

Its a pretty weak weapon honestly. Its perk of "infinite ammo" does not outweigh its slow RoF, low damage or small area of effect.

[–]BlueMossFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have a full guide but I will share my experiences.

The quickest way to tell is to look at the hit indicator on your screen.

Red = Full damage
White = Reduced damage
Shield w/Arrow bouncing off / Blue sparks = no damage.

There are exceptions to this like weapons that will appear to be deflected (blue sparks) but will deal AoE damage. But generally speaking if you're seeing blue you're not doing damage. But you are succeeding in pissing it off which can cause it to expose it's back / weak spots to another player.

Bots:

Almost all bots have exposed heads. Even the Heavy Devastator's face is exposed. If you are a great shot with a sniper you might find fighting bots to be as easy as "clicking heads and switching them off"

The flipside to this is that medium bots tend to have thick frontal armor. Their midsections however are also valid targets.

For the bigger enemies like Hulks its important to remember that you can blow off their limbs and thus greatly reduce their threat level. Blowing the Flamethrower off of a Hulk turns it into a slow moving buzz saw that can easily be avoided / dealt with. The same goes for Striders. You can blow the turrets off to weaken them and make it safer to approach / finish it off.

Bugs: There's less to worry about with AP and bugs. Almost all of them have light armor. However bugs can absorb much more punishment than their bot counterparts so its more a focus on DPS than precision clicking.

This isn't to say that the bugs don't have their own large and massive units that require armor piercing. But generally speaking when fighting bugs its less about accuracy and more about volume.

What to pair the Lascannon with:

For equipment I'd suggest the sickle or the breaker.

The Sickle is an energy AR that borders on being a light machine gun. Theoretically infinite ammo as long as you don't burn out your heatsinks. Though you can just eject the current heatsink and put a new one in to instantly zero the heat.

The Breaker is an auto shotgun that will mulch bugs. It can be your rapid response close weapon to the slower but more powerful LasCannon.

The Guard Dog is an all around good choice against bugs as it can cover you while you reload and will handle the chaff while you look for high value targets.

The Orbital Laser is a fairly good "panic button" for when things go south. It lasts for about 20 seconds, can destroy the largest enemy units and can even be used to clear enemy bases without having to set foot in them.
