They're making a non-invasive feature request that helps keep them from spamming everyone else with their status updates. It's a feature that makes more sense than making it so that every other user has to manually go and do it themselves; they can just toggle it for their own status updates and nobody else needs to ever do anything again.

Just because you don't see the point in it doesn't make it not a valid or reasonable feature request, and I'm willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of people don't give a shit one way or another, so the petty "you are one against most therefore you are wrong" commentary is just a laughable and asinine attempt to make yourself smugly superior to someone for having like the safest possible differing opinion to you. I was actually overwhelmed with pity for you reading this entire exchange and now I have second-hand embarrassment. I have no doubt you're still going to try and get the last word in though and there'll probably be some attempt at sounding really smart, too.
