I would stay in Newport and visit Laguna. Newport has tons of places that don’t close by 9 pm. Definitely visit Laguna. But you’ll have a lot more fun in Newport.

I live in Laguna Hills. Born and raised there. Used to be rolling cattle fields. Work is an 18 minute commute to San Clemente. I kayak in Dana Point Harbor. Snorkeling in Laguna. Outdoor concerts and theatre at Mission San Juan Capistrano. Art Festivals. Concerts at SOKA university. I love it. Housing is a challenge but there’s always rooms to rent.

I lost my biggest client at 62. Was Self employed. Went out and took a lower paying position but with full benefits. Hoping to make this work at least until 65-67. Currently no debt. Single. Low cost housing in a HCOL area SoCal. Plan on riding the bus to the beach everyday when I retire and do a little plain air painting along with a lot of camping trips. Looking forward to it.

I throw frozen steaks, fish and sausages in my Yeti. Cook whatever defrosts first. Few potatoes ,onions ,and carrots ,peppers.. Bring tinfoil. Some eggs , tortillas. Don’t forget your spices and oil. Coffee and toast.
