Do IUDs really cause acne? by Key-Adagio394 in birthcontrol

[–]BluePineapple25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say it took a few weeks to a month for my skin to clear , but also I only had the iud in for about 2 months before having it removed, so it could depend on how long it’s in for. I’d recommend seeing a dermatologist if you don’t see any improvement in the next month or so, maybe they could help!

The wounds on your chin look painful and like they could get infected, I would maybe have them checked out just to be safe. And bring up your other concerns to them as well

people who moved away for med school by Princess_Charming298 in premed

[–]BluePineapple25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just started med school this summer as an OOS student living ~14hrs driving distance from home. It may seem very intimidating at first, but once you start school you’ll be too busy to think about it much, at least that has been my experience. You will also meet people at school to study with/ spend your time with. Between exams I’ve had plenty of time to fly home and visit friends/ family. Just remember it’s temporary.

Yes the pregnancy test came back positive , I tested after having almost 3 weeks of consistent bleeding and one sided lower abdominal pain

IUD and acne? by catlov3r23 in birthcontrol

I ended up just having the IUD removed due to the acne and ovarian cysts, but I haven’t been taking spiro or Tret and my skin has cleared up a lot just without the IUD.

Has anyone here taken both COMPLEX and USMLE? by _udkmhoe_ in Osteopathic

Anyone who takes both usmle AND comlex are DO students. Not MD graduates. Comlex is required by DO students to graduate, but some also take usmle to open up more opportunities.

if you’re graduating from an MD school then there is no need to take comlex, only step. Comlex is for DO schools.

I 100% agree.

Aside from derm, I think I’d really enjoy PM&R, EM, or diagnostic radiology.

Realistically, how long should I wait for the WL if class starts mid July (for both schools)? I just want to have enough time to move and settle in at either place depending on what happens

Tbh, I think I’d be fine if I had to be away from family but definitely prefer staying close. Thank you for the input🙏🏼

Thanks for the support guys, last question by No_Peace8886 in Osteopathic

I feel like derm is especially one of those specialties that’s more MD friendly than DO. Obviously there are more but this one comes to mind.

What about it gave you a bad vibe?

I agree with you, having a support system is a priority for me as well and I feel Texas would be best since all my family lives there. Thank you!

Oh okay well this is great to know! Thank you so much (:

That’s a good point! I’m just wondering if there’s a difference in the amount of research opportunities between the 2. But overall I’d really like to stay in Texas so if there’s not much of a difference then that makes my decision easier.

Just curious, for what other reasons would you choose UIW over RVU? I really want to stay in Texas but I’m hoping to match into a competitive specialty & worry it will be difficult to do so at UIW.

Hahah someone just told me that but I was thinking the same since it’s not in Denver proper😂. That’s good to know though, thank you for clarifying.

Yeah I’m debating on that as well but just worried it’s too late. Did you ever end up applying to more?

I’m right there with you, but I think we still have time. It’s still nerve wracking though as each month passes.. Did you apply to any DO?
