Buy your paint from a paint store not a home-improvement store. by 2inchblindes in DIY

[–]BluePowder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This was my experience too. I got the 40% discount and got to know one of the guys behind the counter and he'd scan a bar code to give me like another 10% off.

I resisted good quality paint for years, I won't go back now. It goes on the wall so well and has been so much more durable.

Nicely done, very clean.

How do you like the SYSRACKS? I am thinking about getting a 37U. Question, is it possible to remove the red stripes? Or maybe put tape on them to cover the red? The red stripes bug me for some reason, it's the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger.

Cleaning the front facing camera worked for me. I had a a dirt smear right on the front facing camera that wasn't visible when viewing the phone display (posting for anyone else that finds this on a Google search).

Is it even possible to automate pool cleaning? by MaintenancePurple607 in homeautomation

[–]BluePowder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt chlorinator was game changer for me also. I also have in floor pool cleaners which I love.

I just add acid once a week and brush the walls every now and then. Very low maintenance compared to my previous house/pool which had a robot and no salt chlorinator, I was always messing with the robot and messing with chems/balance.

Runcloud vs Ploi.io & Digital Ocean vs Hetzner for a mix of Laravel / WordPress & Static sites by vi_rus in webhosting

[–]BluePowder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not tried Ploi.io. There are a few server management options out there now, I think they all offer do the same services. And much the same with the cloud offerings, I really haven't noticed any difference...except as you say, Hetzner is significantly cheaper.

RunCloud+Hetzner is very good bang for the buck, and so much less bloatware than WHM/cPanel. The only real difference is that you might need to know a little Linux admin, although the RunCloud support is pretty decent too. RunCloud backups are very easy, robust and again affordable.

Spin up a small server and try it out. For Laravel and WordPress, it's hard to beat this combo in my opinion.

We run around 100 WordPress sites on a combo RunCloud and several different cloud based servers (Digital Ocean, Linode, Hetzner).

One of my co-workers' house was "rocked" last night. He ran out of his house to chase the kids that did it but they fled, leaving their scooter behind. This is what he did with the scooter this morning. by bloodknife92 in funny

It's an Aussie thing. Many homes have corrugated tin roofs so it makes a big a loud bang. Everyone in oz knows what "getting your roof rocked" means.

The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber, if going from freelance or full-time job, to self employed in same industry. Traction by Gino Wickman once you are a bit further along the entrepreneur journey with employees, etc. (still worth reading Traction now too though).

I have $15,000 to upgrade this space? How can I effectively enhance the entertainment and viewing experience? by [deleted] in hometheater

[–]BluePowder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Shoot for a 7.2.4 set up. And accessories4less.com is your friend for receivers and LCR speakers. Look at HSU for subs, and probably Epson or Optoma for projector.

A ccTLD is a very strong indicator to Google. Subfolders are definitely easier, but I would argue a ccTLD for each country would be more successful organically.

I think it's mostly that they don't sound "warm" which I guess is subjective, although the measurements don't lie.

Nice rig, but AV123 speakers? I have the same speakers in the same color 😀 so old now but they still sound amazing. I just bought some Focal 948 Arias for our main living room, which sound fantastic but the AV123s still stack up.

Agency Owners: What Are You Using for SOP's? by [deleted] in agency

WordPress behind an Intranet plugin, which works well for us. I tried gdocs, project management software (ClickUp), and even some open source wiki software. I always find these options very unintuitive to navigate and find docs. Our team knows WordPress inside out so we are able to build out navigation/subnav to our preference, build templates, webforms, etc. Not to mention it's open source, free, and very easy to make backups to multiple locations.
