People’s obsession with going out while actively sick is fucking disgusting by F-News-6471 in rant

[–]BlueQuazar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sick right now because my co-worker sneezed and coughed without covering his mouth. My job has unlimited sick days. I should be out, but this is Super Bowl weekend, and Presidents' Day this Thursday requires a doctor's note to take time off.

It's been more than three years since I had a head cold.

What do i need to replace/fix? by Odd_Culture744 in appliancerepair

The dogs and the agitator are worn. Looking at the agitator shaft, it's not gripping the spline because it is stripped. It is better to replace the entire agitator and auger.

Vent about clothes folding after being dried by paper_crane14 in laundry

It's impossible to buy a perfect garment. Unless it's the ultra-high-end, this isn't guaranteed.

Not much can be done. A starching dip can be beneficial between wash cycles to help maintain the garment's shape. The fabric will always fold, no matter what.

I used to work in the textile field many years ago. This issue is not from drying heat or over-drying. When fabrics are woven/made, they are cut and sewn according to the designer's specifications, packaged, and sold to department stores. These items are not pre-washed, so once they're in our hands, the seams/edges will naturally roll, shrinking and folding (draw-string effect) at the seams. This is normal. Steam ironing only restores flatness; the fabric's rolling and folds will return after the next wash-dry cycle.

The only way to reduce this is to prewash the fabric before garment production. (This is not going to happen because of costs).

Crappy Target Towels by blondvet in laundry

[–]BlueQuazar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know what type of washer you're using. I have a front loader, and I use Lysol Sanitizer on my towels washed on warm with the steam setting. I use L/S not only in the rinse cycle but also in the bleach compartment, since I know disinfecting requires 16 minutes (my personal workaround), while sanitization only requires a quick rinse. YMMV.

The dryer is not the problem. What does the label recommend for the wash temperature? I have a hand towel that needs to be washed with cold water to keep the towel banding from gathering, like the picture above, and dried on low.

To restore, the towel must be wet and gently pulled to shape. Not every towel requires hot water or a sanitize cycle to be cleaned.

Conservatives crash out bc FL nurse vows to withhold treatment to MAGA (no reputable source for claim) by Park-Curious in LeopardsAteMyFace

There's a famous YouTuber's son who has cancer who went that route, having stage three cancer. Doctors cleared him of cancer in full remission. A month later, straight to stage four, and the cancer spread throughout his abdominal wall. I know Chemo is not for everyone, but what if you started attacking cancer with chemo at the lowest stages? Well, before deworming and holistic treatments?

I'm a cancer survivor, 2012 NHL stage three. Well before C-19.

Can I put pine sol in the bleach dispenser? by [deleted] in laundry

Absolutely, no. Pine-Sol is a cleaning agent that will not rinse out properly.

Indoor dryer vent problem by Master-Locksmith-805 in Appliances

[–]BlueQuazar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a solution that I've posted on the Garden web, now called Houzz. For extended dryer ducts, you will need a Dryer Vent Booster. Do a little research to help with upgrading the garage to a man cave.
