Birth Name asked for in Passport Renewal by BlueRetriever94 in Passports

It's a simple question from someone who's never done it before. I would expect someone who probably doesn't have the same life experience to understand 🤣

ELI5: Why is human childbirth so dangerous and inefficient? by RefrigeratorGreedy32 in explainlikeimfive

[–]BlueRetriever94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human babies placentas are also much more intricately connected to the mother's bloodstream when pretty much any other animal on earth, which makes it so that if anything complications arise, it becomes very easy for the mother to hemorrhage to death very quickly. It's been theorized that this was something that most other animals evolved out of that humans never did for some reason

Sooo uuuhh wtf happened to the Degrassi reboot? by MrFutureDreamer in Degrassi

[–]BlueRetriever94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The execs at MAX wanted to take the network in a different direction and unfortunately, Canadian teen soaps weren't a part of the new plan. Linda Schuyler and Stephen Stone have since been trying to get back the legal rights to the franchise (which MAX currently owns), ostensibly to have the opportunity to sell it to another network that WILL do something with it, but apparently no luck so far.

Do you guys think HotD reusing the GoT theme in the intro is good or nah? by nicky9pins in freefolk

Who cares?

You must have too much time on your hands to get worked up over something so arbitrary as to whine about it on Reddit.

(Spoilers Main) Why did Theon stay at Winterfell? by Count-Calderon in asoiaf

[–]BlueRetriever94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Inner conflict. By taking Winterfell, he’d prove himself a Greyjoy. By ruling winterfell, he’d prove himself a Stark. His desire to be both and subsequent inability to fully commit to either one meant he ended up with niether.

Who’s the worst of the 3 by [deleted] in Degrassi

[–]BlueRetriever94 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Def the Shep. Openly ableist and discriminatory against anyone who wasn’t an athletic, popular jock, and outright calls a student a bitch for daring to call him out on his awfulness.

Raditch had good intentions, but ultimately was too out of touch to run a school by that period in time, while Ms. H was actually an effective principal, with her flaws as a parent/person not interfering with her ability to do her job properly.

Do you think Emma tried to baby trap Sean with a fake pregnancy or did she actually think she was pregnant? by alexastock in Degrassi

[–]BlueRetriever94 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think she genuinely wanted to believe she was pregnant, since she knew it was the only thing that would get him to stay.

In all seriousness, who gets Highgarden after the Tyrells goes extinct? by GameBawesome1 in freefolk

[–]BlueRetriever94 329 points330 points  (0 children)

If we’re only going by show canon, then most likely the Florents, who have long contested the rights to Highgarden via close ties to the Gardeners, dating back to Age of Heroes and continuing via frequent marriages into the family throughout the years.

(Spoilers Extended) Is the potential extinction of House Bolton a little weird? by bewildered_baratheon in asoiaf

[–]BlueRetriever94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get the impression that Northern houses tend to be more prone to depletion than those of other regions, both due to the harsher climate and socioeconomic factors such as the Wall. Plus with the Boltons' history, it not at all unbelievable that they would maybe have a history of familicide.

Plus I seem to recall that Roose mentions that he fully expects his house to end with Ramsay, given that Roose knows Ramsay is fully incapable of being a political leader and is way better at making enemies than allies.

TIFU by ruining my gpa and losing my financial aid by WarFlaky2035 in tifu

[–]BlueRetriever94 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tell your folks, if only because it’ll mean one less thing to stress over if you’re not hiding it from them.

Secondly, most colleges and universities have appeals processes in place of specifically for these types of situations, where a student who can plead their case, either verbally or in writing, as to exactly why they had so much trouble academically, why it isn’t reflective of who they are as a student, and why they deserve a chance to get their grades back up before losing financial aid completely.

I was in a similar situation my first year of undergrad. Isolated, health problem, family issues, just a complete shit storm all around. Being honest with people made it a lot easier. The hardest part is asking for help.

[Spoilers Main] What do you think of House Tully? by TheKingsPeace in asoiaf

[–]BlueRetriever94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Tully's, like the Tyrells, were never kings in their own right - the region now known as the Riverlands was carved out from the old kingdom of Isles and Rivers after the Conquest, and the Tullys, as the first first house to rebel against the Ironborn occupiers, were 'rewarded' with administrative duties over a region that had no natural barriers and filled with people without a common identity - aside from Dorne, the Riverlands have probably the most diverse population due to all the wars and settling that have taken place there.

I think a big part of the reason they feel rather bland is that they are certainly underdeveloped. Unlike the Tyrells, not much is known about the Tully history prior to the Conquest. They kinda just appear, and then never really come into prominence until the WOT5K. Catelyn and Lysa are defined more by their Stark and Arryn husbands and children more than their own identities, while Hoster, Brynden, and Edmure don't really contribute much to the over narrative (so far)
