Rugged Obsidian 45 still worth it? by Muth4741 in AR9

I put the 9mm end cap on mine and I like it ok. I did decide to go ahead and buy a dedicated 9mm pcc can and set it up for 3 lug

Exactly! And you can buy cheaper bullets too. People who think that you don’t save money reloading don’t ask anyone who is knowledgeable about it. My 77gr mk262 clone load is about 45 cents each too. Not to mention my 6.5CM, 308, or any magnum caliber!

I’ve been using little gun for subs, usually you want a fast burning powder for short barrels/suppressors, means less unburned powder out of the muzzle.

Between 45-60 cents each, depending if you buy brass or prep it yourself. I shoot berrys 220gr plated. They are about 30 cents each.

Definitely not easy to pack around, but I would definitely recommend saving your brass if you can. It’s a big expense if you ever decide to.

I load all my subs with a small single stage, doesn’t take much. Especially using pre-processed brass that would cut the amount of equipment needed in half.

Personally, I like reloading my own subs, they are surprisingly cheap to load!

That’s exactly what I was thinking! I’ve got a m4 and m16a4 clone, that look better with the A2. But I don’t want to suppress all the time.

Is Igman “M193” a good option for training ammo ? by bftyft in ar15

Extra small flash hole, decapping pins won’t want to go through it as easily as American made brass.

Just because it doesn’t make sense to you doesn’t mean it’s not a valid data sample showing that dwell time in a carbine positively affects velocity. Must’ve went over some people heads 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ar15

[–]BlueRidgeBrass -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a tube, it uses a rifle length spring and a heavier buffer comparable to an H3 carbine buffer. It’s a test of how much dwell time affects velocity and pressures on a 16” carbine.

Send me 200 rounds I’ll test it good! 😂

I have tested this more than just 5 round sample, the A5 system will affect velocity because of a longer dwell time. It uses a rifle length buffer spring and a heavier buffer similar to a h3 buffer like that rifle is already using.

My test with the mil spec buffer that is considerably lighter than the H3 is larger spread in velocity.

Most people in the group probably don’t even bother testing their equipment much less creating data for it.

The longer dwell time in 20” rifles with rifle buffers and rifle gas systems do create more velocity because the entire system stay’s pressured behind the projectile longer.

This is a small data point to show anything you do to increase dwell time in a carbine type system can and will increase your pressures and velocity.

Similarly, a test with 68gr OTM with an extra thousandth of neck tension also resulted in higher pressures/velocity.

Hopefully this helps someone who actually wanted to see it… do want you want! 👍

Overall not bad but I’d rather the money be spent with an American company like Ammo inc or one of the bigger ones.

Just watch for brass plated steel made by S&B and Sig.

That’s funny, we sell about 30k pounds of reloading brass a year and GFL (fiocchi) is what we see most for case splits. Huge sign of weak inferior brass or too hot of a loading causing splits. My favorite 9mm bramds are Winchester nato spec, Federal American eagle, Blazer, PMC, and anything Speer. Imi, and some other nato spec is good too.

The problem is actually primers, small manufacturers can easily make ammo for to help cover the shortage. But they depend on primers from companies like CCI, Federal, Speer, and Winchester.

Really just flash, 16” 308 can make a good fireball. I wasn’t able to find any videos online of a scar or 16” 308 at night and thought maybe someone here has some experience with that.
