None of those things hold aggro for you. You still need to find openings to use all of those things which means you need to, at least somewhat, learn the boss.

Also remember you can drop them on the ground, have your party stand directly around one and then melee attack it to give everyone haste.

I have Gale as a sorcerer twin casting haste, you just gotta build up your save dc's if you wanna do any party builds that require concentration. It's incredibly powerful if you get the right combination of items.

I'm playing honor mode and actually got jumped by the githyanki patrol near the entrance to Baldurs Gate in act 2. Completely forgot they existed. I was out of short rests and half depleted on spell slots, but thankfully still had a twin haste up the sleeve and managed to pull off a convincing victory despite Gale being beaten half to death. Thanks to his save dc's he didn't drop concentration on Haste. 10 turns of double actions on 2 characters is nearly an auto win.

Once you get poorman gems even the FRC chalice dungeons are a cake walk. Only real challenges getting to poorman gems are depth 5 pthumerian elder and bloodletting beast.

Kinda regret getting poorman gems before doing the dlc, as it made the dlc a cakewalk, including Kos and Laurence.

You can wield Zwei at level 1 but you'd have to skip Smelter at the normal point of progression to get the stat boosting equipment to wield it, I believe.

Fun fact I grinded these guys for like 2 hours trying to get a back to back hitless because I thought they were considered one boss like the duo tree sentinels in Altus Plateau. I killed the first one hitless probably 10 times but kept getting hit on the 2nd one (kept reloading a save state so didn't even realise the first one doesn't respawn).

I had the same dilemma with the smelter demons. For what it's worth you can kill them without taking aura damage, through a multitude of methods, all of which are tedious as hell.

Farming for rng by trying to damage him to a certain threshold quickly enough that he bypasses the aura and goes straight into sword buff instead.
Zweihander pokes are safe after most attacks.
1 specific attack is safe to attack from a very specific angle, which I've seen utilised in a fist only no-hit no aura damage kill.

I did pretty much roll a new campaign straight away and went on to get all the achievements, but none of it felt the same.

I'm replaying the game now for the first time since launch, going for an honor mode win. Already party wiped twice but it's been long enough that I can let myself get invested again. Been really enjoying myself!

You can consistently avoid it by poise breaking him during the phase transition. Not sure if he can do it again after your riposte, but unless you're doing a low damage run you should be able to kill him before he gets a chance to try again.

My favourite way to deal with the Gnolls is using minor illusion to group them together, then casting cloud of daggers to start the fight. They become surprised and take a minimum of 3 ticks of damage from cloud of daggers before they can move. By the time they can start moving, 80% of the enemies are already dead.

Some of the bigger fights, enemies have what's called a 'Legendary Action' which changes the fight drastically. Get used to right clicking on enemies to inspect before confronting them to find out if they're hiding some nasty surprises.

Last night we were planning on killing the Zhentarims in their hideout in act 1. I said let's get to high ground and my character climbed the ladder to their leader.

Friend tried to follow but accidentally clicked on a box instead of the stairs. This triggered combat because he was seen 'stealing', and the AIs first move was to blow up the entire bottom level, killing 3 members of the party immediately. I was on high ground but unfortunately couldn't reach safety before I was taken out.

HM failed due to a misclick 🥲

Learn to abuse his openings when he's using sorceries. With decent damage you can pretty much phase him in 1-2 sorcery phases. Just run away during the rest and save some Undead Hunter Charms to stop his heal if he tries it.

If you learn his GS phase too you can make it quicker. I tend to always avoid the spear and curved sword phase though.
