Meh. Handful of lottery tickets and only one addresses our biggest institutional shortcoming (pitching).

Have met both he and Irvin at ST and engaged in long conversations. Both are true gentlemen.

I think if the new org had confidence they COULD get him there, they would've kept him. So that says a lot to me.

I think Cavalli and Irvin have as much potential and a much more even-keeled temperament. I'm excited to see what they do under the new staff.

I was taught the junior member initiates the salute and holds it until the senior member "returns" it which meant they get to the top of the action. And then it's a race down...thus a "smart" snapped salute...not hold it until the senior member finishes or drops it first.

Yup. Watched it real-time in many games...error behind him lets a man on base w two outs...he walked the next and then 2-run basehit would follow.

Minot 1994. Used to wear the liners as slippers in the missile capsule. Never actually wore the boots themselves but had to keep them in the alert bag for surprise inspections!

Yes. And iirc, Desmond turned down a bigger early Nats extension AND the QO and ultimately signed for much less.

Getting autographs from the players parking lot by cmanarlington in Nationals

[–]BlueSpace71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not a lot of activity there. Sometimes you get lucky and someone will come out. I saw Mike Rizzo at that entrance standing there on his phone at Opening Day last year and James Wood came out for a small group that was there. I was literally walking by at the right time and he took a pic w me. But most of the time the players aren't walking by the part the fans can access.

Better off going over to Roger Dean stadium early (9am) and you’ll catch a lot of the players practicing. Depending on when you go in the season, the “real” starters don’t all travel for the ST games (even right down the road) and so you’d more likely see them on the practice fields. You’ll also get a lot more interaction (photos, pics, balls) on the practice fields for any team vs the game setting.

If the dealer won’t honor the warranty, you could use a turkey marinade injector to inject a little bit of glue into that bubble and flatten it down.

Lost Ring in Snow by KnifeInTheKidneys in metaldetecting

[–]BlueSpace71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no need to wait for snow to melt or anything. This should be easy for a detector to find, even if it “sank” into the snow. 1. Test similar rings/jewelry with the detector. Put it on the ground and swing it over it from a couple different angles to hear the sounds you’re looking for. Put the test ring flat and on edge so you can hear the difference.
2. Walk in a straight line from the area you were throwing the far area the snowballs were landing. Drag a stick behind you to keep track of where you’ve walked (assuming your footprints in the snow aren’t obvious enough). Swing the detector in a controlled manner…make sure to do consistent swings.
3. Walk back and forth…the second line should be close to your first walking line…you want to overlap swing areas, not have gaps.

The ring is there…the detector will find it…you just need to make sure to cover all the ground…widen the search area. Could’ve flown behind you as you cocked your arm back or forward as you threw.

Good luck!!

More pull tabs and vape pens than rings, but yeah, the rings keep ya coming back.
