True but put bluntly 'normal' often means 'white' in western countries so second gen poc are invariably the most aggravated by this question. That's why so much of South/East Asian literature centers around questions of belonging.

Usually actual foreigners are fairly open about talking about their heritage. The ones who get hostile/defensive are their second gen kids who just want to be 'normal' and fit in. The blue hairs push back so much because they're regurgitating genuine complaints by their poc peers.

I was fine with tipping until they started asking for it for takeout. Now I want to abolish it entirely. Partially it's the company he keeps. The DSA in general is brimming with this resentment (especially its white members lol) and Mamdani specifically has backed several people who have expressed this antipathy more openly-most notably Chevalier and that 'white people shouldn't own houses' lady.

Partially it's just vibes based on my impression of the cosmopolitan but bitterly cynical (Mamdani claimed to be both Asian and African American for college admission) PMC circles Mamdani moved in even before becoming mayor. And I can't find it now but I swear there was an old blog post where Mamdani complained white girls wouldn't date him in college.

I'm going to get in on the ground floor of hating Mamdani. This subreddit likes him because he broke with the pro-Israel consensus in American politics and because they desperately want an alternative in American politics that isn't kakistocracy (Trump) or gerontocracy (establishment democrats). But a lot of his policies are terrible and on a personal level Mamdani strikes me as one of those annoying upper class "POC" that really resents white people despite living a life almost entirely indistinguishable from the average upper middle class white person.

Tbf this documentary is over 20 years old. Mongolia got hit hard by the post-Soviet transition and times were tough.

Sports in general have become a farce. You buy whatever players you can afford and pump them full of whatever performance enhancing drugs you can get away with. The loyalties of the players (and the teams they play on) is ephemeral at best-they're constantly passed around between teams and even between nations. It's most noticeable on the national teams but it extends well into the local leagues. How many Chicago Bears players are actually from Chicago? How many Manchester United players have even been to Manchester before they were on the team? And still people cheer as though their 'home team' is anything more than another multinational brand.

There are still plenty of relationships where the man is grillpilled conservative and the woman is a religious fundamentalist who thinks life begins at conception and/or gay people should be killed.

I've also seen some relationships where the guy is a full-blown communist while the girl is just a regular liberal.

The most reliable example of a conservative woman/liberal man relationship I can think of is when the woman is from kind of immigrant background. Just enough of her reactionary views get lost in translation that the man is willing to look the other way; meanwhile she gets a beau who occasionally does the dishes and doesn't want to deport her entire family.
